    GE Washers Exploding

This is the (sad) state of affairs that the world has come to these days. You can thank the magical marvelousness of technology and the birth of the Internet.

GE Double Door Refrigerator GSH25JSXNSS Fan Switching To High Speed and Freezing

Ah, you guys with your modern complex (electronic) appliances! Always some issue seems to surface with things.

    GE Washers Exploding

It's all about silly, dramatic, mindless, entertainment - destroying something for amusement. Some people are bored and need to express themselves and gain "views" or "followers".

    Console stereos: 1958-84

In a lot of cases, it actually boils down to "perceived" improvements. As I previously mentioned, studies and tests were done relating to "Cognitive Bias" which showed that the human brain has the potential to believe an improvement or change has taken place. That audio test that I did with...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

Technics ALWAYS had low wow-flutter in their better turntables, particularly in their Direct Drive machines. And as listed in their literature, that was a mere 0.025%, utterly invisible to the human ear. At the shop, we used a Leader LFM136 meter to check equipment for any W&F issues. And I...

    Consolette stereos: 1958-74...

Some of those KLH speakers had "treated cloth" surrounds which over time dried out and allowed air though them and caused the air-suspension woofers to bottom out. Advent had some models that had the same issue. So did Marantz. The "coating" needed to be re-done to seal the surrounds again. I...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

Oh, trust me, I can hear differences, up to a point, after that it's really diminishing returns. If I want to get obsessive about something, my test equipment is my other set of "ears" Some of the "snobs" on the audio websites have even admitted that they're impressed by a cheap conical stylus...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

I'm really not keen on anything of "new" manufacturing. And besides, being retired for 9 years, haven't handled anything since the shop closed. However, I'd stick with something vintage around 1980s era. Technics, Kenwood, Sony, among others made some decent linear-trackers. Depends on how...

    WHAT would YOU do?

My 2005 GE (LG) 18,000 BTU AC had cheap, weak, spade lugs on the compressor lugs. Caused the compressor to not start. The spade lug for the motor start capacitor was corroded, melted, and toast. I re-did the harness connectors with heavy duty spade lugs, sealed the weather cap and good to go!

    WHAT would YOU do?

Sounds like something Tippi Hedren would have to deal with in - The Birds".

I picked up a set of agitator dogs that gave out on me years ago, and also have that motor coupler as a spare just in case.

It doesn't matter if the speakers are used or not. The foam will deteriorate regardless. better to go with the butyl surrounds.

Stunning Kitchen renovation! What style is that?..... Early American Woes? Or... Moon Landing Madness.

    Ungrounded Outlets

You've just explained and clarified what I've always said about Corporate Greed and it's many ways to milk the consumer for money. Raise the electric rates, then people will BUY energy efficient products. Both the electric companies gain profits, and so does the appliance manufacturers. They...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

Those fancy cartridges with their fancy stylus shapes are just like some fancy cars - marketing hype to make them sell. Yet, people buy into that hype, and it's a fact that many times their brains are then convinced that "the sound" is improved. Go look up this phenomena, it's been proven. I've...

    WHAT would YOU do?

I think that a Warning Notice would be in order to the homeowner, not some revenue-gathering citation.

    WHAT would YOU do?

I think a lot of legislation is nothing but bullcrap designed to make city and government officials look like they're doing something good for the people. Kind of like "smoke and mirrors", and maybe initially it's enacted, only to be shelved and forgotten. And when these laws are in force, they...

    GE Washers Exploding

HELEN!........ The washer exploded!... broke through the back door! All your undies are scattered on the back lawn now, in the mud!

    WHAT would YOU do?

Here in Philly, trash collection is strict, and has rules. Federal holidays - no trash pickups. - you put it out for the day after. Exceptions are if a local parade or event is planned, trash will be picked up after event cleanup first - if event falls on your trash day, it's delayed one day...
