    Whirlpool Design 2000...

Sometimes, something is created/designed, and turns out to be extremely successful. Smart, well organized corporations should know this well, after all, their bottom line is to stay in business, and attract a healthy customer base, which naturally insures healthy profits. Am I right in...

    Modern Whirlpool

The control styling and "touting real knobs" That's only a styling design, because behind those knobs is quite likely the same fragile electronics with the same types of issues. A Printed Circuit Board with dozens of components on it. And most likely it's made overseas in some slave factory...

    Whirlpool Design 2000...

When I first got the Kenmore/Whirlpool portable washer for my previous apartment, I was stunned at the rapid agitation, but got used to it. I keep it around as a backup in my home now, just in case my Maytag ever decides to act up. But since it's 39 now and still going strong, I imagine the poor...

Your valued opinions on 4 potential vintage-ish machines for regular use...

My 39 year old Maytag A482 is similar to the op's W4 photo. And still running like new.

Yes Barry, all that you said, and more, is true. We were a small owner-owned repair shop, I spent my last 25 years there as chief technician, and helped with the closure in 2016. I got a nice settlement thank you. The owner took ill, (heart issues, stents, etc.) and had no choice, and his...

Your valued opinions on 4 potential vintage-ish machines for regular use...

Hot water filling issues sometimes are due to calcium buildup on the little screen filters inside the hot water hose or inside the washer's threaded connection. It'll look like powdery or crusty white crap, clean it out carefully and try again.

LOL! I've had that "occasional" customer come in the shop with complaints too. One idiot tried to sue us for the replacement price of his severely damaged 55 inch flat screen tv. The set came in missing several back cover screws, cracked circuit boards, obvious hands inside doing damage. It was...

Whirlpool and Samsung are reducing the maximum spin speed on their washers

Indeed. Where... WHERE in a residential washing machine, or a dryer for that matter, need to use a motor that rotates so fast? My workshop table saw spins the 10" blade at 16,000 RPM's! Sorry, I gotta call BULLcrap about this motor discussion.

Whirlpool and Samsung are reducing the maximum spin speed on their washers

Combo52 is repeatedly refusing to clarify or show actual video proof of such a fast washer motor in action, with sound. This is modern-day Internet! - how hard is it to post a damn video when asked? All we've gotten are still photos of some motor which doesn't really prove anything. .... in...

Indeed Jerome! It's the classic Marketing Tool used by corporations, among others, that just because more features are involved, they can set the price sky-high. In reality, it's true that more features add to manufacturing costs, however stating that an appliance is "superior" or "High-End" is...

    My brother got a Samsung

The brand name..... Samsung..... is one that I've had Plenty of experience with over the decades. being a service techician for home entertainment equipment, that brand was the most frequent one that came through our shop door... Tv's, VCR's, CD/stereo, you name it! And any of my communication...

    Christmas tree and lights

Such a chore to do, (I hate being on a ladder) but I tastefully string some garland and C7 lights on the front of my house. And of course I drag out the Christmas albums to entertain the guests. That's me, about 15 years ago.

Like the current society trend of "following the crowd", being sheep or puppets, manufacturers follow others to their eventual demise and failures.

    Christmas tree and lights

It's a shame about those crappy Christmas tree stands. When I was renting a house back in 1988, down in the basement, under the stairs, I spotted an old dusty box which contained a "Lorelei" tree stand. The box obviously was from the "50's era, and the stand looked like it was never used. It's...

Thanks Barry, The gentlman makes a lot of sense. I'm not surprised at what's been going on, I've done research on other manufacturers products for decades. Bottom line, - you build junk, you lose customers, and revenue. Plain and simple.

And Matty's house shines bright with all the colors of a beautiful rainbow. ;)

    Christmas tree and lights

Well, it could be my monitor, but it's hard to tell the actual colors, except for one or maybe two balconies. Nevertheless, I prefer some color.

    Christmas tree and lights

Now if I lived in one of those apartments, I'd have multicolored lights on the balcony. All those boring white lights....... bore me. And besides, I like to show that I'm me. not one to "fit in", I like my individuality. My outdoor christmas lighting had always been multicolored, while others on...

Does anyone know a fix for this?

Sounds like the gears in the transmission are stripped. That thing sounds like crap. Once they started making transmissions with those lousy plastic gears, washers became trouble. Someone else here mught have a clue.

GE Double Door Refrigerator GSH25JSXNSS Fan Switching To High Speed and Freezing

Last summer, my neighbor across from me tossed out a 4 year old set of Samsung washer ($700) and dryer ($600)- both deemed not worth repairing by a servicer. Out in the trash they went.
