Freezer Temps- How Low Is Too Low?

My nextdoor neighbor's got a GE Monogram double-door fridge. It went on the blink about 12 years ago. I found out online that it was on a "recall" list for the control board. Contacting GE confirmed this, and sent a guy out to replace the board for free in the back of the fridge.

Agreed! Growing up in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, I've naturally seen the changes due to technological advancements. And I've also noticed how they affected humanity. In enough of cases, its manipulated how society acts, thinks, and behaves. Jumping forward to the present day, it's also clear how it...

LK Belt Drive problem. What’s happening?

Yes, I'm familier with those wig-wag transmissions. My first apartment in 1979 had an old late-50s RCA/Whirlpool toploader in the basement that I had to do a little servicing on. It had that black bakelite agitator with the silver cap.

GE Double Door Refrigerator GSH25JSXNSS Fan Switching To High Speed and Freezing

I suppose that would work too. My digital cooking thermometer is a Taylor that reads -40F to 450F. It also has a "hold" button to lock the temp reading, so if used in a freezer it can hold the immediate temp from raising before you remove it from the freezer. You just gotta hit the hold button...

Now, Robert, consider this... Humans are not "perfect" beings, correct? Some are close to being perfect, nevertheless everyone makes a "mistake" at one point in their lives. And humans are the ones who design and build the products that other humans use. Of course, advances in technology roll...

Here, in the lovely "Sanctuary City" of Philly, a lot of car theft is due to illegals needing transportation, so they can distribute their drug wares. Others, like the ghetto younger crowd, need a car for shoplifting. Add in the reckless driving that results from all this, it should be...

Whirlpool and Samsung are reducing the maximum spin speed on their washers

So? what pictures, I'd like to see a video - in operation. I'm not allowed to question something? I'm not allowed to ask for some proof of something? I would think that if somebody stated something, they'd at least have some way to back up their claims. Not to mention that I've been harrassed...

Ya got THAT right! ;) I've already seen the results of that, years ago. I was on the bus one day about 2012, headed to work at the shop. My Lincoln was dead, in need of a new battery, so... A young guy, maybe in his teens, was glued to his cellphone, and got up afor his stop, and as he was...

Actually, I picked up a fare from a bar one night. The man was crew member of a ship that was docked at a port in Philly. He was desperate to get back to his ship, telling me it was going to leave port very soon. He said he's pay me well if "I speeded it up". So... I did... I tore down the...

Ya know, back in 1975, for a short time, (one month) I took a job as a Yellow Cab driver. Car number 2014, a 1971 Plymouth Satellite slant-6 four door - a real hunk of crap. Gas gauge never worked, turn signals wonky, no AC, etc. Night shift duty, I picked up real critters. I kept a tire iron...

Freezer Temps- How Low Is Too Low?

If +32 degrees is basically freezing, surely 32 degrees below that is quite sufficiant. I've measured my freezer and kept it at 0 degrees and never had a problem. And my fridge section varies between 34 and 40, just right.

Whirlpool and Samsung are reducing the maximum spin speed on their washers

I'd love to know where all that information/facts/statistics are derived from. Because three's so much misinformation spreading around these days, it would be great to check out some reputable authorities.

GE Double Door Refrigerator GSH25JSXNSS Fan Switching To High Speed and Freezing

Those no-name brand thermometers aren't to be trusted for accuracy. Get yourself a Taylor thermometer.

Apparently, the ideal temp for a freezer is 0 degrees. You mentioned it's down around -15 degrees. I'd back off the control to align it with the suggested temp, there's no reason to Super-Freeze things.

It sounds like you're not particularly in favor of human travel or robotic devices. Potential flaws on both sides of the fence apparently. While seemingly impossible to correct, the human faults are due to various things that have been around for ages. Other things have been recent distubances...

I'm glad that you brought those potential issues up. Because relying on something fully controlled by electronics is a risk I'd rather not have to deal with. Plus, the increases that I've noticed in how human drivers are being careless, speeding, racing down residential streets, blasting...
