    Thanksgiving

My nice comfortable home is a 3 bedroom, one and a half bath, with a galley kitchen and decent size dining and living room Basement, laundry area, and garage downstairs, plus a backyard for parking 2 cars. It's all I need, and enough to keep tidy.

    Ungrounded Outlets

Oh well, so much for all those SO CALLED Energy Saving Appliances! Lotta good they do, eh? More Marketing bullshit to convince the masses with.

    Console stereos: 1958-84

The BIC record changers are notorious for the original grease turning to hardend glue. Also, certain plastic mechanism parts are prone to cracking due to the solidified grease causing the mech to bind and stress the plastic parts. I used to have a 960 for a few years, but re-lubed it and sold it...

    Thanksgiving

My "crowd" dinner parties ususally were 8 to 10 people, and that's enough for my house to handle. But I don't have a ton of friends..... anymore. Some of them died, a couple from drugs or booze or (sexual) stupidity. Besides, it's not how many friends you have, it's the reputation and quality...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

Those Philips, the ones with the lighted buttons, were troubleprone machines. The lightbulbs inside the buttons would burn out, and then the button would not work. See, the bulb was used as a to trigger a sensing "eye" system. As for the vintage Duals, they're considered like GOLD these days...

Jesus! - in all the decades of servicing countless record changers, I never had a 1006 in the shop. That's just NUTS!

    Ai Detergent works?

I tried those links that J.I posted and got a "oops - the requested page cannot be found" I guess maybe somebody forgot to recharge A.I.'s batteries eh? Anyhow, being a human, I don't talk to robots that call me with those annoying scammer calls. Although, the other day I cursed out one of...

    WHAT would YOU do?

Indeed, some things done or mandated by companies and installers are not thought out fully, and can have adverse effects on a person's life/living. I find a substantial lack of consideration not just to companies, but even to the general public as well. For instance - neighbors putting out...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

I sold a pristine Dual 1009F with a new Pickering/Stanton cartridge a few years ago on Craigs List, fully serviced by me. Excellent machine, which blows away today's plastic "high end" garbage. And I've got a Dual 1019 just serviced, sitting on the shelf, base and dustcover, all the spindles...

    Thanksgiving

I used to "go all out" ($$$) for Thanksgiving and Christmas and invite over "the crowd". It was a lot of work, the cooking, the table setting, music, the decorations, and of course the cleanup afterwards. That was decades ago when I first got the house. But I pulled away from all that...

KA Dishwasher KDTE254Ess1 Wash arms not rotating - Diverter?

Indeed, initially, the sound of the water running should give a clue to this problem.

    Consolette stereos: 1958-74...

I've heard the Bose 901's, they were decent speakers, however they didn't really excite me. My nextdoor neighbor Vin picked up a pair of AR Acoustic Research model LST speakers a couple of years ago. They were both needing new tweeters - 4 per speaker! The only current replacement tweeters are...

    Consolette stereos: 1958-74...

KLH made some fine speakers too. Boston Acoustics, KLH, Advent, Dynaco, BIC, all had that "East Coast Sound" that I prefer. It was a smooth, accurate non-fatiguing sound that became popular. Different from the "West Coast Sound"of the Cerwin Vega's which were more In-Your-Face harsh that was...

    Consolette stereos: 1958-74...

The floor standing speakers are from 1988. They are Advent "Maestro" 3-way models that were the top-line model back then. The pair listed for $700 originally. Heavy suckers they are! Here's an old ad that I saved from a Crutchfield catalog.

Whirlpool and Samsung are reducing the maximum spin speed on their washers

Those motor speeds are sensible, and of course designed for the electronics that they run on. However, I was talking about the traditional AC motors like the cap-start-run AC motors like my Maytag and Kenmore has.

Jeez Chet, if I wanted to watch some "doom and gloom" on tv, all I gotta do is watch ABC's "World News Tonight" with David Muir! That so-called news show is enough to make a person slit their wrists! 😮

Whirlpool and Samsung are reducing the maximum spin speed on their washers

There is NO washing machine motor that runs at "10 to 20,000 RPM" Those motors run at about 1800 RPM, as do dryer motors. So there you have it. The other month when I did the mod on my Maytag with the "warm wash" button, I got curious about what's under the agitator. So I took it off the shaft...

I just want something that performs well and does the job. I don't Buy Into marketing hype.

Whirlpool and Samsung are reducing the maximum spin speed on their washers

I also suspect that it's linked to Outsourcing of where bearings, among other things, were manufactured. Cutbacks on quality of critical components shows its ugly head eventually.
