    My mother's twintub

Thanks for this thread Louis a great read of a machine I've never heard off, that's the joy of this forum. It certainly, brings home the cost of appliances when compared with the cost of property. I think Mums house was about £4000 in 1972 and the washer would have been about £100 or so...

Hoover keymatic 3224 in sweden, help please

not a good photo but it at least shows that the boot stretched enough when the tub drops, but it's still not a complete seal to the tub, the inside of the machine would be exposed to splashes and steam, but did enable me to see the machine run. This was many years ago, so can't add to what I've...

Hoover keymatic 3224 in sweden, help please

another early test enabled me to see the machine run, but not a workable solution. This is a Hoover classica / new wave boot/gasket, which sits in the cabinet opening really well, a nice deep boot, but the tub diameters are completely wrong, so that the top is open due to the extra that won't...

Hoover keymatic 3224 in sweden, help please

Hi Sweasko sadly the door boots/gaskets you show won't fit, they are from the 70's and 80's automatics. in the case of the keymatic, the diameter of the tub is quite a bit smaller than any other front loaders I know of, except perhaps an idesit L5 type, which I've not measured, plus the whole...

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1957 - 1990

Keith good to see those extra photos of your 3304 and that your hinges are still in good condition. Have you given the frigidaire mastertwin much use, would love to see some more photos, and a video would be fabulous if possible. Great too to see the adverts for the philips, what would you...

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1957 - 1990

good to see those photos of the burco Mike, it must be quite unusual to have a spin timer rather than a wash timer. Again as you've said, I don't remember people using the heaters, maybe by my time in the 70's the fuel price rises, people weren't into boiling as much, and as hot water was...

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1957 - 1990

Hi Austin yours is like mine with the heater, these certainly lasted longer thanks to the plastic lid hinges, the 3301L I have with the cast alloy hinges has just rotted through the hinges and into the lid. Mathew

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1957 - 1990

Fabulous compilation and thread Mike And lots of great memories of repairing and using some of these machines together, and many more in the great restoration queue. This is the best picture of the back of the 3304 i can find, I'm assuming the hose was perished and what you can see is the...

    hotpoint 9530w electronic 1000 plus

ah now you can see i'm using the socket with a short extension shaft so that the long lever, probably about a meter long, is clear of the back of the machine, so that if anything slips we're away from sharp edges etc, but I too have been to A and E, but that was trying to get the clamp band...

Hi Matthew I assume you mean the drum pulley and nut. I've found the only way is with a socket drive and a long lever as you'd use to change a wheel on a car, wrenches and adjustable spanners are more likely to result in accidents than success in my opinion, I'm sure it's a m20 thread with...

How much would you be willing to pay for a Keymatic 3224/3226 door seal?

Just checked quickly in a brochure and the service notes and both show the 3226 with the light blue boot, but I'm happy to be proved otherwise, my 3226 came to me with a black boot, but then like the 3224s with black boots, they were no doubt replacements. Mathew

How much would you be willing to pay for a Keymatic 3224/3226 door seal?

Hi Cam I too would personally prefer a modern material that will be more durable and long lasting. I also think and it's just my opinion, that they must be the original turquoise colour, If they were to be the modern grey colour the price I'd be prepared to pay would be much less, and those...

How much would you be willing to pay for a Keymatic 3224/3226 door seal?

yes that is a thought and I suppose that would be the way this company would go about it. But it still taught me how you need to think about how the mould would work, is it a one off where the mould could be broken or made in sections to make multiple copies. I wanted to try the plaster mould...

How much would you be willing to pay for a Keymatic 3224/3226 door seal?

Hi Alan I remember those boots on ebay, think they went for around 60-70 pounds, I remember deciding not to go for them, as I didn't have a machine ready for one and given the unknown condition, the thought of paying a high price and for it just dry out before I could use it seemed pointless...

How much would you be willing to pay for a Keymatic 3224/3226 door seal?

Hi Cam thanks for looking into this, to start the ball rolling, at between 50 and 100 pounds each, I would happily buy three, much higher than that and I would really have to consider if I could justify the expense when both my machines need major work, which is not likely to happen for several...

Fantastic thread Mike some brilliant photos of us all here Mike, thanks everyone for making it such a great weekend. Love my confused expressions in reply#65 looking into the hoovermatic washtub, "what no agitator, how's that supposed to work, won't it just tangle things up" ? lol. Great to...
