    A New Vintage Washroom....Version 2 Upgrade !!

I also thought that was a great photo of Darren and Steve 5/7 post 31. Steve and Mike, thanks for hotpoint toploader photos, seeing how easily they come apart is a real lesson for me, as I had not collected any of these, I've never really worked on much more than the pump, mind I'm still happy...

Oh Mike What a great weekend and Al, what a wonderful space to spend time with the best of friends, what fun and friendship there is to come. These gatherings are always backed up by such generosity and hard work before the event, thanks to you all, as all of us I'm sure if only we lived nearer...

    Hoover Logic A8534 Capacity?

Hi Gary according to the service/parts book, that's a logic 1300 washer dryer with a 5kg load, the drums are about 4cm deeper than the 4.5kg drums. I measured one for you on the weekend. Mathew

    Candy 137D

Great buy Paul Back in my college days (25 years ago) there was one in a friends house when they moved in, the bearings were so worn the drum had seized, it could be just rocked up and down. I remember taking the back off and seeing the weights around the drum pulley to vary the drive ratio...

    Hotpoint Liberator 1828/01

What a lucky spot Steve Kris had a similar find a year or so ago, getting an early 70'd bendix by spotting the corner whilst looking at a cooker. It was staying at a holiday cottage with one of these in the laundry that may have directed mum to look at and get the 18340 a year or so later...

    Hotpoint 18680 restoration

Great work Steve I must remember to have a look at the bearing tool when I get the chance. I know I've not bought one in the past as the price was much higher back then, maybe I was just too tight lol. Well done Mathew

A Visit To The M.E.B (MidlandsElectricity Board) Showrooms

Great to see you having such a wonderful time. My grandmother had the belling classic 80/90 would it be, very similar, but black enamelled oven finishes, but certainly had the fan oven. It was only used once a year for the Christmas turkey. I also remember changing a couple of radiant rings and...

Happy 70th Birthday for Hoover`s first Washing Machine

Thanks Mike for this great celebratory thread, hoover hit the jackpot of matching the right product with the market requirements at the right time. True it didn't do everything, but it took the washday in from the back yard and dolly tub, compact enough to store and use in the average kitchen...

A Vacbear Birthday, Beamish and Building works....

What a weekend was had by all Al what a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday, and at the start of what will be a great year, once you'll be able to set out your new appliance spaces. Brings back memories of our trip to Beamish some 10 years ago now, but to think of sharing that day with...

    1961 Duo-Matic Twin Tub

Rolls I think your right about spin performance, at least for those who couldn't afford to buy and run a tumble dryer, and back in the 70's most couldn't, mum always said so long as she had a spin dryer she could cope without a washing machine, that's only cope mind not be without if they could...

    1961 Duo-Matic Twin Tub

More marketing talk I see Alan in your colston ariston brochure, the automatics, LB range features the `Exclusive hydrostop action' to prevent creasing, would this be Rinse hold lol as featured on most automatics since the 60's. Mind can't be critical being a hoover fan, with Creaseguard lol...

    1961 Duo-Matic Twin Tub

rolls concorde I would doubt the concorde had the auto rinse, for one if it did, it would have been trumpeted in the adverts and on the machine. Also if the rinse/spin dial of the autorinse was a timer, then the concorde only having one dial which has to be the wash timer, could not have the...

    1961 Duo-Matic Twin Tub

My take on the autorinse cycle. Al your suggestion sound a good solution, but a bit complicated for such a basic machine, I humbly suggest, now if Parnall ever made a twin tub, I think you'd be onto something. I'm going to suggest the rinse/spin cycle timer is along the lines of a basic...

    1961 Duo-Matic Twin Tub

mastertwin If I remember correctly, from Keith's thread, the master twin had the rolls type wash tub and the Frigidaire spin dryer. I agree it was a time of great competition in a growing market for a product that would transform the lives of the housewife like no other. Some may look down on...

    1961 Duo-Matic Twin Tub

Thanks again, this is great to see, I agree that tap connection looks more robust than the usual rubber funnel shape hose ends. Now for an exploded view to see the jet arrangement. lol oh just great to have these questions answered.

    1961 Duo-Matic Twin Tub

Thanks Alan for more great reading. I'm familiar with the rapide de luxe as I have both the book and machine, but have whilst knowing about the autorinse, never read about it before. I had always assumed it was just in essense a spin timer, with a jet flowing over the spin dryer. Can you or...

Another Duo-matic for sale on eBay

Ian I know on the rolls rapide, the economy of only 2 swivel castors, I assume the same on the duo-matic, like the cable storage, it's these details you start to see how production costs were reduced. And the control panel is really thin plastic compared with the aluminium on the rolls. It's a...
