Actually this model dishwasher was energy star compliant in its day. Normal with 'sensed' heavy soil used about 7 gallons of water. Not too bad, even by today's requirements. Each full fill was 2 gallons or so. There is a small plastic clip that missing from the right front of the lower rack...

I think the Gentle settings that are part of the P-Press or Normal cycle is intended for delicates on this model. Slow agitation w/slow or fast spin respectively. Surely, Kenmore had another model that either had more cycles or a speed selector swtich if someone wanted or needed that...
