we're having a natural disaster here . . . The power went off and the sump pump is of course electric . . . which means water is coming into the imperial laundry studio and phonograph archives. . . it's a natural disaster . . . hopefully damages will be minimal as nearly everything is off the...

    VIDEO OF JAMES DISHWASHER DISPENSER

Here is a video of my 1957 James Dishwasher Dispenser. Note that this is a glass vial detergent dispenser (not a detergent cup) and may be the only one of its' kind known to exist. First the machine goes through a rinse (not dispensing the detergent) and then when it begins to fill for the...

I have noticed that when you upload a photo with a post that you have to hit preview message twice. The first time only uploads the photo. Then by pressing it a second time the preview loads. In the mean while it says please be patient but if you do not click it a second time all the...

    16 inch transcription turntables

Now playing - my Gates turntable with Gray research tone arm. This massive machine has an 18 inch platter designed to accommodate the 16 inch transcription discs and still leave room for fingers. Shown here playing a 16 inch red vinyl Muzak vertical transcription.

    oldest central air conditioner

I wonder how old is the oldest central air conditioner that is still in service. There is one here that I maintain regularly which was installed in 1968. It has its original compressor and coolant although I have replaced the evaporator fan motor 2 years ago and one of the condensor fan...

    James detergent dispenser

This little glass vial is the detergent dispenser from my 1957 James dishwasher. It is very exciting to watch when operating as the machine fills through over filling and flushing vigorously this little glass vial. WHOOSH !

    westinghouse secret hand shake

Pull before turning ! Without a care and use manual or any other instructions would you believe it took me 15 years to figure out how to properly start my 195? lemon yellow westinghouse dishwasher! Better late than never. Actually it took me about that long to get the machine installed and...

    Fiesta Party Cake

Picked up another excellent cast aluminum cake pan from nordic-ware. This one is a lovely shaded harvest gold color, and produces a cake that looks similar to a forest of manufactured trees. I baked this in the '49 Maytag Dutch oven which continutes to work like a dream. It's an apple cinnamon...

Creda 1000 Vs. Converse All Stars

The creda cooked my Converse. I have washed these many times successfully in the larger Kenmore Elite machines, but I must not have used such an aggressive cycle. This is the end of the line for the Converse All stars. Between the high temperature wash, the small cylinder and the high spin...

PINK 1964 Coldspot Ice Cream Churn

I just love this thing, and have already made 2 very successful batches with it. Anybody in the group got one in another color - turquoise or yellow perhaps? Bob

    What is THIS? Mystery Object.

Is it a tool, or a game, or has anybody seen this before and can tell me what is is. I have an idea what to do with it. Mom's and sisters sometimes produce the strangest things from the thrift store I'd never think of buying for myself.... It appears to be two flat disc shaped lucite paddles...

    Pineapple Carrot Forrest Cake

Sorry I missed out on that madarine orange cake. My resolution this year was to learn how to do good bundts. Here's an example of how it's going. I call this a Forrest, with 2 r's you may notice, because that's where I live, and where it was baked, and how we spell it. I used my yellow GE...

    BOSCH SMU2042UC DISHWASHER

I picked up one of these today. There doesn't seem to be much information about it to be found on the internet. Seems like the only part available for it is the lower rack wheels. Can anyone tell me anything about this dishwasher? I plan to try it out tomorrow and will give you a report and...

Half Naked Maytag Dutch Oven photo

Here it is with the top off, and you can see the rock-wool which looks a lot like fiber glass sandwiched between the oven liner and the top. Lots of cleaning to do, but amazingly, it works. Hopefully in just a few days I'll have some photos of her looking better. Retaining Heat in Hollywood, Bob

    1954 Westinghouse Dishwasher pump seal

I'm finally raising up the ol' yellow Westinghouse I've had sittin' around for years. It's among the living again. Does anyone have a pump seal for that, or do you think I should be calling parma ohio about this. The pump comes right apart as if it were new so replacing the seal will be a piece...

    1949 MAYTAG DUTCH OVEN

Today I put a bottle on my 1949 Maytag gas Dutch Oven, and the fool thing fired right up and works like new. I've had it in storage 17 years and never expected it to work. So far I've baked corn bread, an angel food cake, ham, and a sweet potato pecan casserole in the oven, and fried bacon on...

    1963 ZENITH TV

I was born late in 62 and this was purchased in mid 1963, so that makes this set just about as old as I am. It makes me just wanna watch Dick VanDyke. Actually, I hope to be able to watch my Judy Garland born in a trunk DVD's on it sometime in the future. Anyway, I got it from the son of the...
