    Landline Telephones

Fred Here is a link to a modular transformer hookup, if you phone has a modular plug. That's how I light my Princess. Your trimline is an early one with the round buttons. Those phones need the transformer but I prefer them because the light is much brighter. Robb - I remember those calls. I...

    Landline Telephones

Freddo You have an early Trimline. The circular buttons give it away. Two wires for the light in the handset and two wires for the phone. The phone wires must be wired properly (tip and ring)(polarity) or it won't work. These things are bullet-proof. Give me a call and we'll work you through...

    Landline Telephones

Robb I'm with you. I have some very fond memories of some wonderful people who were "lifers" at the phone company. One of my best friends had two aunts who worked there as operators and died millionaires with the pension (and stock) they received (of course, they never spent anything either!)...

Sudsmaster Sorry, I don't think that things are better now. The level of service was better back then. I can't dial "0" now and get my call through.

    Landline Telephones

Laundress I had a great time in the toll office. In Park Ridge, they had a few male telephone operators, primarily students. In DeKalb, I was the first. They loved me. I only remember one subscriber who freaked out when I said "Operator". I told her to hang up and call back. That story is...

Lilly Tomlin I have that recording and love it! It really captures the mood at the phone company back then. My board is a 556A (manual auxilliary to a 556A crossbar PBX) which has ten manual circuits which work like a 555. All hooked up with AC and DC power to the vintage phones. What fun. You...

    Landline Telephones

Patrick Boy do those pictures bring back memories. I worked semi-automatic toll boards in Park Ridge, 0+ dialing (PPCS) with cords for hotels, coins and others. When I worked at Continential Telephone in DeKalb, IL we started with cord boards and switched over to the toll service desks and had...

    Landline Telephones

I Worked My Way Through High School and College At the phone company switchboard (cord and push buttons) and therefore have a soft place in my heart for the good old days of landlines, operators and good old phone company service. Probably one of the most reliable utilities known. Here is my...

Vintage KitchenAid by Hobart - Spotted on Park Avenue in NYC

Inside Like New! What a great machine for a backup. I had to make it work since I had the cabinetry altered to install it. Works like a champ. As they say - "The dishes scream to get out!"

Vintage KitchenAid by Hobart - Spotted on Park Avenue in NYC

Here's My KDI-14 Found literally new. When I got it, it was hooked up and when started, the screws that were thrown into the sump sheared the pump. After much work, the drain was converted to a gravity drain, and now works like a champ.

    Quilt Redux

Michael I could make a business out of making Kirby 505 black bags with that embroidery. Michael emailed me the Hoover logo which I executed with the Bernina 440. These things are amazing. Thanks again. It is nice to find someone else with the madness. Fred
