    The Perfect Washer

I'm surprised with all the retro stuff going on that appliance manufacturers haven't picked up on that. I think there's a real market out there. Especially for machines with lot's of buttons, dials, chrome and lighted panels. I'm also surprised that with the popularity of the Frigidaire jetcones...

    ge vs. whirlpool vs. maytag

Sorry about the Roper confusion. Actually, come to think of it isn't Admiral? Does Maytag make Admiral in the States? Whirlpool makes it in Canada and if memory now correctly serves me...didn't that have some connection why Whirlpool in Canada couldn't use the Speed Queen name? (My brain hurts!)

your fave washer of ALL time

I'd have to go with the '70's Westinghouse TL Laundromat. I thought the control panel was simple yet very classy! Loved the thin blue lettering and the chrome push buttons - not to mention the "Weigh-to-Save" lid. The dryers had "Cross Vane" tumbling - I can still remember the salesman making...

    ge vs. whirlpool vs. maytag

Thanks for the Speed Queen tip - I'd love to buy one but they're not even sold in Canada any more! There was something about Whirlpool owning the right to the name. About 10 years ago you'd see Speed Queen branded coin laundry but the machines were made by Inglis. It's no different than Roper in...

    ge vs. whirlpool vs. maytag

I must say that I have enjoyed all of your comments. Great tip on the temp thing...probably now going to go with the Inglis model 4500 (Inglis.ca) - check it out even has warm spray rinses plus a deep cold rinse! Now how 60's is that? Anyway you're a great group and love the chat! Westingcam.

    ge vs. whirlpool vs. maytag

Thanks for the advice. I'm inclined to go with the Inglis (Whirlpool) because it's always had such a good reputation. I thank you about the temperatures...must research that one further. I just don't trust Maytag right now (may heart breaks because if you asked me 10 years ago, there would be no...

    ge vs. whirlpool vs. maytag

Hi guys, I was wondering if you can give me some advice on choosing a top loading machine (yes top loading - had the front loaders before but my roomate insists on a top loader). I really like the 3.5 cu. ft. GE with the stainless steel tub but I've heard so many bad things about GE - although...

    bring back westinghouse

Yes it's interesting that the Hudson's Bay Stores through their Zellers affiliates are selling Westinghouse small appliances made by Salton. Guess I'm just being nostalgic - Westinghouse was a huge name in Canada. White-Westinghouse on the other hand has not done the name proud in my opinion.

    bring back westinghouse

Is there anyway we can convince EHP - Electrolux to bring back the Westinghouse name versus White-Westinghouse. They've got it in Australia. Why not in North America? It's about time that "You can be sure...if it's Westinghouse" comes back to us. It's an American and Canadian icon!
