The designer of the equipment didn't say why he treated the tubes. A Chicago ear bud designer was there too. He does custom ones and are single pole design drivers. A micro computer for each ear. Prices start at $4,500 and up. He did a pair form the lawyer who defended the Ferguson case in St...

Buying a new Toilet this weekend - Any advice?

Ah, makes sense TAG! Our main floor closet waste is copper from 1968 to the cast iron soil stack with a rather long lateral section. Never been a problem, but the 2017 Kohler toilet is. Not a low end, but a one piece ordered through an authorized independent dealer. The old Kohler two piece...

    WHAT would YOU do?

Matt, a housing plan concept which has returned in some locales. Chicago suburbs, and some Florida places have back ally's/streets. Server sporadic this morning.

Silicone isolation is best for turntable feet. Sorbathane is also great for a mat, or inside the plinth. Pointed speaker feet, and a heavy component shelf/furniture too.

GE Double Door Refrigerator GSH25JSXNSS Fan Switching To High Speed and Freezing

Oh, it isn't an Artica or later model with led digital temps.? Ours says 0 for freezer and 37 for fridge, which is the plug in default settings. We keep it at 3 and 38. Temps. drop from tie to time to 35 and 1 or minus 2. Our neighbors have an Artica in the garage that was icing up. Removing the...

Quality level of listening enjoyment is isolation from resonance and vibration from loudspeakers, etc. Only one note may cause it, and it may only show on measuring equipment, but as a component ages, or room aspects change may become more pronounced. Thus, there is a choice in the level of...

    GE Washers Exploding

Yes they do earn money. The internet provides tools for income as was planned with the decline of domestic manufacturing, etc. As they say, get with the program, adapt, change, or get out of the way.

GE Double Door Refrigerator GSH25JSXNSS Fan Switching To High Speed and Freezing

Modern? Oh to live in a perfect world. Nothing and no one is forever. Had appliances never needed repairs in the 60's, 70s, 80s, and early 90s, my dad wouldn't have been a Sears servicer for 33 years. We ate good, etc. Their 1967 Coldspot bottom freezer Spacemaster "16" compressor failed after 4...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

Tube preamps and amps always sound warmer. Even hybrids. That's why so many high end makers still use them. There are modern tubes which can be treated with a process like liquid nitrogen or something to make them last longer and or enhance performance. I forget exactly, but I saw it on youtube...

    GE Washers Exploding

Yep, it's a thing. Gasoline inside vacuum cleaners and microwaves too. Go figure?

Well, I'm not one who would spend over $500 on a cart., or $2,000 on a turntable. Some spend tens of thousands. I've seen those high end audio shows. Six figure components, even cables costing thousands.

GE Double Door Refrigerator GSH25JSXNSS Fan Switching To High Speed and Freezing

Mine is a 2007 model 25.4 cu. ft. Ever since I can recall, the door alarm has gone off every few month's when closed. At this stage, it really doesn't owe us much. I check the temps. occasionally. I can tell when it's ready to defrost because the fan hits the icy evaporator.

GE Double Door Refrigerator GSH25JSXNSS Fan Switching To High Speed and Freezing

Read the GE service manual for any SxS since the year 2000. "Liner protection mode is king!" When ambient air hits frozen plastic, it can crack. The fan is variable speed. I never leave the doors open more than 2 minutes. That makes it defrost sooner and more often. I'd rather have the fan...

Matt, on certain vinyl, I can tell a slight difference in speed regulation between my SL 220 belt drive spec. .045 and my new direct drive.

Even the new Technics SL 1200 G, 1300g, are well designed and built. Delta sigma motors with zero hum and extremely low wow and flutter. Duals too. With a 50 year old turntable that only needed cleaning and lubricant I wanted a new one. I use a power conditioner and disconnect the main cord from...

Thankfully my ears are more discriminating and I can tell the difference between a bonded, nude shank elliptical, micro line and a Shibata stylus. Who cares what a maker calls something. They all have marketing trademarks. If you're not hearing a difference Matt, either the record or the system...
