    NOS Brown GE range

Wow, that is super nice! The color is Coffee, the successor color to Dark Coppertone. I'd prefer it without the black glass door, though.

    Maytag Plant #2 - 16mm Film

The Highlander models were considered as budget grade products. I suppose they called them that because it referred to Scotland, and Scottish thriftiness. I remember them using that theme in their advertising I don't know for sure, but maybe Maytag is a Scottish name.

    Whirlpool Design 2000...

The Whirlpool washer factory is in Clyde, OH (east of Toledo), and they also made many of the belt drive machines there. The factory is very large, as is their Dishwasher plant in Findlay.

    Christmas tree and lights

My mom watched Ruth everyday she was on. My sister and I knew not to bother her while she was watching, unless we were sick, or the house was on fire. I remember she got tickets and went to the show several times, including when Bob Braun took over. Do you remember when the studio audience...

    Christmas tree and lights

I have "Merry, Merry Christmas", which was recorded by Ruby Wright in 1957, on a 45, a 78, the 1958 album, and the CD. The other side of the single is Ruby's recording of "Let's Light the Christmas Tree". She was the best singer on the "Ruth Lyons 50-50 Club" show. For those not familiar with...

    Christmas tree and lights

Most of the Christmas albums I have are compilations, mainly on CD. On vinyl I have the Brady Bunch Christmas, one with various seasonal hits from Decca and Capitol. The most unique is the 1958 Ruth Lyons "Ten Tunes of Christmas", that my mom bought when I was 3 years old. I also have the CD...

    Christmas tree and lights

For several years in the Fall, I worked at a company that did commercial Christmas decorations, for CVG Airport, hotels, hospitals, etc. Unfortunately this year I didn't get to because they lost one of the big contracts. The trees we assembled and decorated ranged in height from 6' to 20'. The...

    Christmas tree and lights

That reminds me of when I was about 13 or 14, our church youth group had decorated the Christmas tree in the sanctuary at our Sunday night meeting. It was about 12' tall, with lights and many beautiful glass ornaments. I got a call from my friend Patty a couple days later, to please come to the...

HELP GE and WP identification and information

Your GE wall ovens and matching cooktop were most likely made between 1966 and 1970 or so. Definitely not 1962, as self cleaning wasn't available then, and the handle and trim were different. The serial number will tell when it was manufactured, but I don't have time to look it up now.

    Throwing away food

My Aunt Doris always did that with soap she bought. She said that's what my grandmother did with soap after she made it. I always heard in was made in the "witch's pot", a large cast iron cauldron which sat in the back yard.

GE Double Door Refrigerator GSH25JSXNSS Fan Switching To High Speed and Freezing

My neighbor Tiffany just threw out a nearly new bottom freezer refrigerator about a week ago. Not sure of the brand, but it was one with French doors. Haven't talked to her since, so don't know what was wrong with it.

Let's make a timeline of Westinghouse Slant Fronts!

Frigidaire had a similar design around 1962, don't remember any Whirlpool models being like that.

    WHAT would YOU do?

It wasn't me with that issue, it was Matt. My trash gets set out at the street.

    WHAT would YOU do?

Around here, if there's more than one piece of large furniture, major appliances, building materials, etc., we must make our own arrangements for disposal, such as a dumpster or junk removal service. Of course with appliances or other metal items, scrappers will usually come by and get them. My...

    Suicidal Poinsettias

I've not had a poinsettia for several years. I usually buy one at the church in memory of my parents, but instead of picking it up after Christmas, I tell my friend Patty - who is the church secretary - to keep it in her office. The past few years when I worked at the plant place doing...

    WHAT would YOU do?

It would be highly unlikely to get that far, unless someone repeatedly caused a problem. A couple years ago, a neighbor down the street had an animal knock theirs over, strewing trash into their and another neighbor's yard. I saw her out picking it up in both that morning, as soon as she noticed...

    WHAT would YOU do?

The only time I set out anything loose or in an open can is if it's something animals won't be interested in, such as building materials, magazines, papers, etc. Any food or anything with food residue is likely to attract a raccoon or cat, and they will tear open plastic bags to get to it. I...

    WHAT would YOU do?

A private company picks up the trash here, so they set the schedule. I set mine out last night, after I got home about 7:30. It's probably been picked up by now, as the truck usually comes sometime between 5:00 and 8:00 in the morning. Neighbors might complain if someone sets it out more than a...
