    Con Rpts said what?

The manual for my machine says not to use chlorine bleach so I don't in the loads, but I do pour It down the sink once a week just so it will go into the pump. I am no longer going to worry about what's in the sump, it will be what it is. Thank you all for suggestions

    Meet our new Miele W1!

I think the W1 is supposed to be release to the USA either this year or next.

    Miele W4840

You might want to wait for the W1 series machines. The USA Miele web site has references to this series machine,in the user manual section however there are no manuals or machines available yet. So it looks like they are working to bring these models to the USA. From videos I've seen of this...

    Con Rpts said what?

That could be. I don't know the exact ingredient origin of any detergents or fabric softener. Softeners used to contain animal fat but I don't know what replaced that unless it is silicone. If it is due to softeners I need to find out what is in Comfort,Vernel, and Miele softeners because that's...

    Con Rpts said what?

My oily gunk is not in the washer. It is in the sump pump attached to the laundry sink and the water drains in the basement floor.

    Con Rpts said what?

Rolls I was using Persil Megaperls for whites and Megaperls for colors and once in a while alternating those with Miele for whites and Miele for colors. All of these are powders. All of the Miele powders except the one for sensitive skin have been removed from the USA web site so maybe I won't...

    Con Rpts said what?

I wish Consumers Reports  or some organization would concentrate more on rinsing.  My washer drains into a laundry sink and the sink is connected to an inclosed below floor sump pump which then pumps the water up and over to the sewer line.  My sewer line is suspended from the basement ceiling...

water temps in "energy efficient" washers....?

If the machine was made with 2018 EPA regulations in mind you won't be able to modify anything to get more hot water, or water into the machine

    2018 Regulations

No manufacturer is required to make a washer that meets or exceeds energy star requirements. They can make one that does not, they just won't get 100+ dollars back from the government for each machine. Right? Manufactures opt in to the program for the machines they produce.

    2018 Regulations

You are young? I thought you sounded like you were in your 30s or 40s. Nothing wrong with that.

    2018 Regulations

The last time I read the minutes( at least a few years ago)  from the Energy Star meetings I think I remember that many manufacture representatives said that the requirements were already so low that they were having trouble making washers that would actually work.  They said that they had...

    2018 Regulations

Our current government administration wants to gut the EPA by slashing their budget, in fact all the information regarding clean water and air, and climate change has been removed from the EPA web site, so perhaps there will be no new regulations in 2018.

New Kenmore 4.7 cu ft triple action agitator washer with steam

The user manual for this machine says steam treat™ will add additional agitation and soak time to the cycle, no mention of heat. In the cycle chart you can even add this option when you wash in cold water. Anytime I see a phrase with steam followed by a trademark I think there is a possibility...

    Whirlpool compact heatpump dryers

I guess for people without a natural gas option and venting, this may be considered, but I can't be sure the complexity of the machine would justify buying it.  Having natural gas I just can't see the benefit of switching to this.     I looked at the users manual for the Bloomberg machine...

Windows 7 Directly to Windows 10 Creators Update: Heck, Yeah

Why can't we just buy windows 10 and install it over windows 7?  I bought windows 7 and installed it over windows vista so why can't we just do that.  I have no immediate plan to go to windows 10 so I guess I don't need to worry about it.

    Vinegar as a "softener"

Looking back at the first link Laundress included about hotels washing sheets with neutral detergent, the article aso states that the optimum temperature to wash linen sheets is 140F. It recommends loading the machine to 80-90% of capacity so if you observe your machine through the glass the...

    The new ubiquitous dw design

Hobart KitchenAid That wash arm design was on my mother's 1971 Hobart KichenAid Superba dishwasher except the center hub was bigger and contained spray jets. It did a prewash, main wash and 3 rinses in 22 minutes, then used forced heated air to dry for 19 minutes. Things have changed since...

Hope Persil isn't being discontinued in the USA...

So now, the Persil Pro perls are back on the shelf but with the 10 demensions of clean label on it?
  19. J

What do people think of the new Persil available in USA?

In my front loader I use about 1 to 2 tablespoons of the Perls when I wash whites and so it lasts about a year and works well for me. I checked the Pro Perls web site today and see it seems to be reformulated as well. Seems like more and different ingredients. Last thing I will say.

New Speed Queen front loader video!

Correct me if I missed it, but both of the videos show main washes lasting about 18 to 20 minutes. Is there a cycle on the machine or options that will give longer main wash times..like 30 to 40 minutes?
