A Trio Of Stylish Swiss Fancies

I didn't even know the Swiss made laundry equipment. They would be the only ones on the block if someone in this country had them, for sure! Are they as expensive as a Patek Philippe?

    Spring cleaning inspiration

You could always start by taking the rugs outside and beating them. That might use up some nervous energy, anyway.

ad and product I'd never heard of

Clorox detergent was sold here, too. I liked it, but in all honesty it probably didn't clean as well as Tide With Bleach. Here's another attempt by Clorox to break into the detergent market, dated 1985. Coincidentally, Act was a packet detergent like Hum.

    Mmmmmm Pretty...

Amazing! Apart from the obnoxious snark from the ignoramus who wrote the captions, that is.

Electric vs gas equipment in schools

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Joe. I'm like you. I had an aversion to anything to do with the school cafeteria and was surprised to find out, years later, that a near neighbor worked there and was renowned locally for her good cooking. Had no idea. My elementary school was heated with coal...

Can anyone identify this Pre war convertible car

Note that the windshield wipers sweep towards the center of the divided windshield, a Chrysler Corp. trademark at the time, not to the outside as on the Hudson.

    Sparks-Withington "Sparton" refrigerator....

Catching up with the videos... You're right, as far as one can tell from a recording, it does sound like a good little compressor. Almost modern, not so much of the put-put sound you get from some of the antiques. (Although the put-put sound is charming!) I would not have thought of a...

    Sparks-Withington "Sparton" refrigerator....

Who else would have the knowhow not only to get this oddball working, but to re-engineer it to be better than new? Thanks for showing us, David.

    GE ranges/Roper plant?

From memory, I recall seeing somewhere that range production at Appliance Park stopped in 1988, which jibes with what John L says above.

    The price of eggs

I have a problem of sorts collecting old magazines. It’s very relaxing to read them at bedtime, when it’s important to get offline so your brain can produce melatonin (or something like that.) But they do pile up and get in the way. Eggs are amazingly cheap now. It’s hard to see how anyone...

    1952 Kelvinator Refrigerator

Thanks for the pic of the double-width ice cube tray, Eddie. The Kelvinator in the Consumers' Research test did have a full-width freezer compartment, though the picture isn't clear enough to give detail. Philco had the best operating cost in the CR test, by a fairly good margin, based on cost...
