My mother.... had a BRAND NEW Magic ---- stove and the oven was making a booming noise also. The repair man told her she was lucky the thing didn't blow up as the entire oven filled with gas until the ignitor came on.

@toploader55 Thanks for your reply...am I correct to assume one of those knobs is supposedly for temperature. To me it looks like the left one says "temp" and the right one says "time". If I had a way to get it I would, just as a novelty item, I like it's simple appearance.

In regards to the art deco/pank kitchen... Look closely at the window on the left by the 2 chairs, there is an air conditioner in that window that was installed backwards, nobody noticed this when the picture was being taken?
