Have Increasing Energy Prices Caused Change in Your Laundry Routine

Thanks Eddie. Never knew that It seems like when I noticed the spinning meter was back around 1999 2000 I think ? At the time there were brown outs happening in Ca and at the time I had a Maytag set..the old copper colored set. The neighbor had a brand new G.E set. We both were trying to...

Maybe The dryer isn’t a hog? Years back I just was shocked at seeing that meter spin. I’m guessing about a $1.80 per load here in Ca? Eddie..am I figuring this right?

Have Increasing Energy Prices Caused Change in Your Laundry Routine

I try But washing hasn’t changed. I still use hot wash warm rinse for whites ect T.L machine. (Gas water heater) Line drying is about the best I can do. (Electric dryer) I don’t know how to read the new smart meter, but when we still had analog meters, I noticed how fast it turned when...

    Neutral Drain Replacement

When I replaced my neutral drain I wanted to see how or why it failed. I wasn’t able to see why until old parts where cleaned up. This thin metal hub is what failed, not anything else.

    Scored a 1996 Kenmore DD

Are you testing the motor independently..without it connected to the transmission and with pump removed? Just curious

    Scored a 1996 Kenmore DD

If it “won’t do anything” Maybe the motor coupler needs changing ? Did you check to see if it still pumps out? If it still pumps but won’t agitate, then I would think the coupler broke?

    Scored a 1996 Kenmore DD

Thats a very nice machine I have a friend that has a 1996 DD 70 series Kenmore that I’ve worked on. I replaced a few things on it over 8 years ago and it’s been running fine ever since. Very similar control panel. IIRC It had the warm rinse option if dial was set on a certain cycle. I’ll...

    Older Maytag Washer info needed

Thanks John She has the machine unplugged, so I asked her to see if the agitator will turn by hand, she say she tried and it won’t. Is this an indication that something is seized? I’m not familiar with Maytag’s other than my Maytag Wringer

    Older Maytag Washer info needed

Thanks guys From what my friend says, she was washing a large heavy load of towels and midway through the wash cycle she smelled something burning. I’m not sure but think she said she saw smoke? She stoped machine and tried to spin it out. She said it didn’t agitate and didn’t spin. So I’m...

This is a friends washer that has stoped working. I haven’t seen the washer in person to poke around to see what the problem is.. She just sent me pics and she’s unable to locate model number. To me it looks like 80s model that would be belt drivin. Any advice on where model number would be...

Kenmore DD making strange loud sound after coupler replacement, help

Yes Bizarre? Maybe try fill it part way with water and see what it sounds like? What’s the history of this washer? Is it new to you? When I first heard the sound I thought maybe the tub nut was loose or tub not in right, but if that hasn’t been messed with and was running smooth before...

Kenmore DD making strange loud sound after coupler replacement, help

Something aint right See if John (combo 52) stops by. I’m a little confused…which pump had pebbles in it? The one that was on it or the one that you swaped out? Are you sure everything lined up when you put the motor back in? You usually can feel it drop into place when reinstalling the...
