You have an excellent machine there! It is a KDI-17 which was made between 1971-1974. The Soak Cycle is a cycle for more heavily soiled dishes. It does in fact have a soak period. Keep in mind that the dishwasher NEVER completely fills. It will just circulate the wash...

I have a KDS-16 Superba
I found that when I used the non-phosphate detergent that I had the white powdery residue on my dishes. I bought about 10 boxes of the phosphate detergent to have on hand.

Beautiful job on the KDS-20!! It looks awesome! In regards to the comment about Finish Glass Magic...I just bought some last week and according to the box, it contains no more than 21% of phosphates....so I believe you can buy this product with phosphates.

You do beautiful work!!! That dishwasher just sparkles! The KDI-15 Dua-cycle machine is one of my all-time favorite vintage models in the KitchenAid line. I absolutely love it!
Hope somebody can get this machine. It appears to be in fair condition. The racks are in rough condition though.

After studying the buttons, I think I have most of it.

B - Hygienic Normal Wash
C - Hygienic (?) Dry

That second to the last button, I just can't make out the middle word...it almost looks like "rinse"...

This next brochure DOES include the Patrician model KDP-18. The brochure has some pages which may be duplicated, but I scanned them again so that you could see this complete brochure. Interestingly, both brochures are dated 12/77.
