Today's POD - the Electric Laundry

Kohler Electric Sink I will be interested in seeing a users manual. When I was a young child, my parents bought a house with a Kohler Electric sink. I do not remember it too well - I think it had a propeller in the bottom (which reminded me of the propeller on our outboard motor). I think I...

Coffee Eight O'Clock beans - usually French Roast sometimes Bokar. Ground in an old Braun blade grinder. Brewed in a Bodum French press. I also like French Market coffee and chicory - sometimes a kind person sends me a bag of roasted chicory from France and I add that to the grinder. Everything...

    1980 Maytag Operating Instructions.

I have used Operating instructions for a 1980 Maytag model A106 washer – BOL with no bleach dispenser and white paint in place of chrome on the control panel. Dated in pencil 12 November 1980. I also have operating instructions for a model DE 308 dryer and the original installation...

    Look! Lightburn twintub.

Marching to a Different Drummer The Lightburn Zeta automobile also has the same zany charm as the twintub. It is noted that company also made cement mixers and there seems to be a bit of cross pollination with the twintub. http://www.microcarmuseum.com/tour/zeta-runabout.html

    Search Discuss-O-Mat

Thank you gansky1 - thank you for taking the trouble to reply. I tried what I thought you were telling me - but it did not work for me. My problem, I seem to more and more frequently misunderstand the world :-) Many thanks, David

    Search Discuss-O-Mat

I was trying to use the Search Discuss-O-Mat feature. Kept getting "no match" messages. As a final test I searched on "Maytag" and then "Lady Kenmore" I also got a "no match" message which did not seem to make sense. Is this feature not working, or am I not using it correctly ??? David

Suffice it to BE said that the Vacuumland Forum has been clo I have been a dues paying member of VCCC for several years now. The Forum is my chief contact with the club and following it I have come to “know” of many members. I have belonged to many organizations and am very familiar with the...

Info request on Maytag "HA407" & HDG 405 features

Thanks kennyGF .......I'm thinking a 9200 series is a newer set, probably from the 90's......I wouldn't call them "boring".... I found exploded parts diagrams at the link below, which are very helpful. The control panels are "boring" compared to the classic center dials. (if they had just kept...

Info request on Maytag "HA407" & HDG 405 features

RE: More Maytag info. .......So, more info about Maytag models, including cycles and capacities, would be really helpful to some of us here. Dryer info would be just as helpful as washer info!....... I have a model A 9200 washer (side dial, black control panel) with matching dryer. How does...

    “Happy” Bendix

A Bendix Kid My mother bought a Bendix exactly like this one when “help” was no longer available to come to the house and do the laundry. I was fascinated by its looks, and of course the water show through the window. My mother saw me reading the Bendix instruction book and got the idea that I...

Check Out thei Compact GE Washer/Dryer in Washington..Washer has no agitator but one of those disks!

One of those disks In 1973 or 74 I bought a set of these GE's portables (in white) for my apartment in Boston. I was dubious about how good a job the "disk" would do but it did very well. The dryer blew moist hot air and lint out the front, probably the most negative feature of the set. David

    Bendix question anyone?

Bendix Boltdown My parents bought a Bendix like yours in 1947. Workmen had to come and drill holes in the basement floor and set bolts in a special cement. My mother had wanted it to be upstairs but my father did not trust it to be fastened to a wood floor. As a kid I loved to watch it wash...

    square corners

Square Look Another selling point of the radical new square look was that the appliances looked more “built-in”; more in harmony with the latest modular kitchen cabinets. I remember a first generation square Frigidaire refrigerator in black that was just stunning! I also strongly dislike the...

The kind of dishwasher most used in Brazil!

Countertop Dishwasher In the 1970’s I bought a counter top dishwasher very similar to the one you show for my apartment in Boston. It was a true miniature of a full size machine and if you had good hot water worked very well and totally automatically. You had to use it every meal, sometimes...

Heads Up! Bendix in Buffalo, NY

Early Bendix I am so glad someone bought it who will care for it and will value it. This machine is a sentimental favorite as my parents bought a full cabinet model when Bendix came back to civilian production after WWII. It was bolted to the floor in the basement laundry room and I enjoyed...
