    Galaxy Dryer Cycle Time

Does anyone know the time between more dry and less dry; less dry and cool down; and cool down and off? Obviously auto dry keeps the timer from advancing when the heater is running- however assuming the timer was set to run continuously on a lab bench top, how long would it take to go from more...

    Simple Modern Dryer

How many of you are willing to have a super simple dryer as a daily driver? How simple are you willing to go and how many features and cycles are you willing to give up in the name of reliability and longevity? Me, personally, this is one potential candidate I'd like to have as a daily...

The video is Seans but it did not work when he originally liked it. You got it working. Just want to say, the video is spot on and describes auto dry perfectly along with why it works so well regardless of the load size. The beauty is that auto dry can be implemented even on the most simplest...

    Favorite Dryer

My favorite auto dry was the one used on Galaxy dryers. They took advantage of a 240 volt timer motor and made it work with two contacts like timed dry. I think more dryers should have gone this route:

    Vid doesn't work- sorry :(

If you don't know how to gauge the load well. I can see how timed dry could and has been misused. Regardless I don't believe that should be a reason to restrict timed dry or push auto dry cycles. If you are going to offer auto dry and skimp on the timed dry, at least offer an "ultra dry" or...

Sorry, I have no idea to be honest. I have no experience with Inglis. However the closest thing Whirlpool/Kenmore wise would be a two cycle washer with Heavy/Normal and Permanent press with a water level selector: Do you know what cycles and temps were offered on the dry?

Well, that feature has limitations- for me at least. Things like comforters can appear dry on the outside and not the inside. Mixed loads. Shoes. Dryer racks, ect. Timed is the most promising, it gives the user maximum control. It is also the most reliable. Easiest to diagnose and replace...

Not bad, that is respectable. Many use dryers today offer both timed dry and auto dry as well as two or more heat settings.

Late 90s early 2000s Whirlpool Power Clean Filter Module or Kenmore Ultra Wash. Peak dishwasher, peak cleaning, peak energy savings.

People Are Waking Up To Vintage Appliances

Well said. People with technical brains know that a dryer has only two major binary components with more cons than pros gained going beyond that. Call it extreme, but if everyone was like me 95% of all dryers in the US would have an internal control system that looks like this-...

    Favorite Dryer Design?

My favorite dryer is the Whirlpool 29 inch top filter dryers. These dryers are hands down the simplest and easiest to repair while being some of the fastest drying machines in existence. Considering how simple they are yet how well they do their intended function Whirlpool's 29ich dryers are...

How did those compare, what were the advantages in having a perforated drum? I am envious of you again DADoES! Personally, I think the best dryer is one where you can regulate the output of the heating elements in addition to what temp the exhaust stat opens at. Add to that temperature...

Fascinating design choice for the drum, I like it. All the US dryers I've seen have a solid drums, and the GE drum is only perforated in the back, so this stands out for me in a good way. I think that you can switch off one of the two heaters in your dryer is a nice feature. The DDE5300BAL...

People Are Waking Up To Vintage Appliances

Spotted today on Reddit's main trending page, yet again: I get the feeling more and more people are waking up and asking for simple EM controls on their appliances instead of complex electronics. I feel like if enough people catch on, we will turn the tide. Perhaps our discussions on AW.org...

if you could homebuild a washer using the body of a vintage belt drive washer or direct drive washer like a pc how would you build it same for dryer?

I'm guessing it could be done, but to be honest I don't know how to go about designing and then printing a 3D timer drum with all its various intricacies. Thank you for the link, that looks like a sequencer, great for things like reversing tumble and stepped spins.

    WP "Convertible" Washer

I wish they still made direct drive portables and compacts. None of that World washer nonsense.

if you could homebuild a washer using the body of a vintage belt drive washer or direct drive washer like a pc how would you build it same for dryer?

I actually prefer the side opening lid. But only when the dryer is the the right. My dryer is to the left, so, I don't mind the back tilting lid.
