Direct drives are the easiest to mix and match, plus parts are plentiful. I'd go that route, others are a bit more difficult and parts are scarce.

Could be the T connection or the trap. A lot of cheap pre-made DIY traps can easily get clogged by things like cellary. Might have to take things apart underneath the sink depending on where the clog is.

I believe you. I wish a side by side comparison could be done. If I had the ability I would bring some of your vintage top loaders back into production because from what I am seeing the cleaning and fabric care results are spectacular.

I doubt they will ever bring back traditional top-loads like the direct drive unless people demand it in large numbers. As front loads have caught a large portion of the market with no sign of market share going down.

I am so envious of you, you got all the good stuff. Only thing I'd add is a GSQ9669L and a GSW9559L. Whirlpool had the best ultimate care washers.

Jerome, I've never asked you explicitly. What is your ideal wash and spin time in a top load washer? I came out with this, a 33 minute cycle on a 48 increment timer. Let me know if it goes through.

Thats around 25 gallons of water per charge. I can see why detergent gets so diluted now when I really think about it.
