A Few of my Favorite Things

May possibly open one day, but I’m not sure. Haven’t really heard from Chris in awhile, even had a conversation awhile back with another friend who’s also a friend and haven’t heard from Chris in awhile. Probably busy with life behind the scenes from what I can imagine.

2015 Speed Queen Washer Model AWNE82SP113TW01

Inlet valves seem to be a common failure, had that happen to my Maytag A606, ordered a replacement and seems to be working. Installed one on my Franken-Pool, seems to work rather well though has been over a week since I’ve used it.

FB MarketPlace Find: 1985 SPIN-DRAIN Kenmore DD!

I think the direct drives (in the early stages and years) didn’t have nowhere near as much testing done since the spin drain models had a tendency of linting things up and the short 90 degree strokes didn’t really help much either, especially when the machine was packed full. You could get away...

New Production Vintage Incandescent Light Bulbs

LED lights emit blue light which isn’t good, that’s why it’s can be a bit tricky to put the devices down before bed. Meanwhile, incandescents emit red light which is what the sun gives off, possibly might explain why everyone is tired these days since the brain won’t slow down which results in...

    Tide Ultra Oxi

Ariel Oxi is similar, may be a bit ‘too much’ for some in the scent department, but like that ‘fresh clean smell’ when everything is all done.

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

The VMW design was really only meant to be used in a compact washer design, not a full-size machine. Works perfectly fine in a compact washer, but in a full size machine, not so much since it’s undersized and underpowered which will cause it to wear out sooner than necessary.

    Home Depot Dryer Installation!! Seriously???

Call me crazy, but I’ve been using that foil vent tubing for the past 5 years, never had an issue. Nice thing is if I need to move the dryer out to clean behind it or work on the machine, can easily remove the vent since it uses one of those clamps you remove with your fingers as opposed to...

Wanted: Whirlpool belt drive water level hose

Re Reply #9 After doing some more research, it’s a pvc reducer bushed that I used to secure the air dome and automatic dispensers/lint filter piece in place to the tub.

Wanted: Whirlpool belt drive water level hose

This is what I used, cut off the excess pvc pipe. Don’t remember the exact sizes (one was 1”, the other 2” if memory serves correctly), but this is what I used to hold the air dome assembly I fabricated along with the piece for the lint filter and automatic dispensers.

Wanted: Whirlpool belt drive water level hose

Reply #9 Hi Robert, I used a rubber gasket (believe it’s 1” to 1 1/2”), another gasket on the outside to create a seal. O-rings would probably work as well. Should have gotten a photo the other day when I had the inner tub out since I have to tighten the screws which hold the outer tub down to...

Wanted: Whirlpool belt drive water level hose

This is the air dome I built out of plumbing parts.

Wanted: Whirlpool belt drive water level hose

“Hi Sean, why do you have two outlets on your air dome device you’re built?” Whops, should have been a little more clean and articulate about that. The piece with the two outlets is for the automatic dispensers/lint filter, the other is for the pressure switch in photo #3. Got this video...

Wanted: Whirlpool belt drive water level hose

Here’s the pieces I fabricated back in the fall/winter of 2021. Had to do some tweaking in photo #2 so it would fit inside the cabinet.

Wanted: Whirlpool belt drive water level hose

Oh, the pressure switch chamber. Yeah, I had to go to the plumbing section at Home Depot to fabricate a new one, definitely more beefed up than the original. Even fabricated a new piece for the recirculating filter/automatic dispensers as well. Just about all the hoses (hose from the...

Wanted: Whirlpool belt drive water level hose

You might have to go to a local hardware or big box hardware store and go to the plumbing department, I went to Home Depot about a month ago and picked up some vinyl hose which was the same size as the existing pressure switch hose on my Whirlpool, should work.

    Decommissioning a 1988 Kenmore 29” Dryer

Dumb question, is it possible to bypass the moisture sensor on a Whirlpool dryer, put in a power dropping resistor in and making it a thermostatic auto dry? Just wondering about that, even if it’s possible to do.

Maytag Presents: The Los Angeles Story - 16mm Film

Reply #11 PCV valves became mandatory in California starting in 1962, that before being the road draft tube which not only cited problems with pollution, but caused oil sludge and ultimately oil starvation problems. While emissions from vehicles was a problem, the bigger issue were many...

My 1970's Kelvinator 184 has arrived.

Since I’ve used both (My Whirlpool and Maytag), they both have their advantages and disadvantages. The only downside about a neutral drain is there’s more complexity since you either need a solenoid to engage or disengage agitate or a mechanism like inside the direct drive transmissions. On...

1964 Kenmore Dryer.....Need DRUM Belt Info Please !!!!

“I’m still waiting for you to figure out what kind of belt you’re gonna put on your crazy conversion dryer you’re making” Going to put the original drum belt on it came with. Though, will experiment to see if there’s any others that are off the shelf that will fit in the future.
