Time Capsule Apartment In Manchester, New Hampshire

Many older New England homes had a separate pantry off the kitchen. My grandmothers house had one with all the cupboards and sink which allowed a much bigger and open kitchen.

Since my immediate family has all passed away and I miss the holidays with them now. Dixie 20” Electric Range

The original stove here was a heavy gas Dixie 30" that was great to cook on. Only problem was 4 separate pilots for the top burners that constantly went out and a manual light oven that is outlawed in this state. So when I moved here permanently, I bought a Whirlpool with clicker ignition that...

bought a 1955 kenmore pants model

Your oldest model is quite similar to my 1948 Kenmore, same lid, tub except mine has the closed wringer. Mine is the middle one on the bottom and Bradross' model was the first pix.

    Commercial Slant Front Westinghouse Washer

When I was a kid, before coin ops were growing. We used to have these neighborhood "Snow White Westinghouse laundries". Staffed by ladies in white uniforms that did your laundry, washed in those same washers, spun in the extractor dried in big Cissal gas driers and folded. Soon after the cheaper...

There is nothing like the fresh scent of clothing, dried outdoors

Actually, I am waiting for the rinse to finish and I have a load to dry on the clothesline as our temps are supposed to hit 70 again today and tomorrow. Probably until next spring my Maytag dryer will be spewing steam outside for every load.

I wish I could figure how to operate mine. Trying to figure how to do anything is way too frustrating and I put it down and leave it. At least I can make calls.

    Westinghouse Empress--1960

When I was a kid, a friend of my family sold their big house and bought a nice, in the early 60's mobile home that had those stacked units built in outside the bathroom. I so wished they were running then to see.

Dishwasher issue -- door switch not engaging

Since you are renting your apartment, the dishwasher must belong to the landlord. I would contact them and explain the situation and it is their responsibility to either repair or replace, not you.

    interesting Canadian ad 1963

I think it may have been Tide that gave away an evergreen tree for Arbor day as a kid and my mother told me to plant it at our camp, which is where I moved there for good almost 30 years ago. That pine is at least 40 feet tall now.

Are open-case coolers (& some freezers) at or nearing extinction?

Yes Dave, they are all changing to this type. Stores around me all have them. Years ago stores made cardboard panels to fit over those freezers for the night when closed. Much more energy efficient and who cares to just open a glass door to get what they need.

    wasps...

A few years ago after swimming, I changed and went out barefoot to my clothesline to hang the suit up and stepped on a ground nest and got 17 stings before jumping back in the water.
