    Need Some Help Identifying Dishwasher

Thanks hvt. I sometimes forget that on this PC keyboard the numeral "8" and a few others need a good "hit" to work.

    Need Some Help Identifying Dishwasher

Thanks hvtech42. I did some searching around, the GE website says it's no longer available. Other sites also seem to be void of having it as well. Between the frustration of searching, looking it up, and my friend's attitude towards just buying a whole new machine, I'm ready to end this nightmare.

    Need Some Help Identifying Dishwasher

UPDATE: My friend finally found the MODEL NUMBER of his dishwasher. It's Hotpoint model HDA2220Z00BB. I found the Owners Manual online, and also a part number for the leaking door gasket. WD08X10007 NLA, but replaced by WD0X10016 The owners manual is dated 1997, and also references under the GE...

    Need Some Help Identifying Dishwasher

Thanks, bigalsf. I mentioned your suggestions to my friend, and he will get back to me once he does that. I told him to also note any of the controls and graphics locations on the front panel to help with this. This may be a 1960's model too, but we'll see.

The RCA Victor Studiomatic - I actually have one in a mini console that I restored. For what it is, it's pretty impressive. Click it to see the whole ad.

    Need Some Help Identifying Dishwasher

Hi guys, I hope someone on here can help me out. A good friend of mine has a Hotpoint dishwasher, likely late-70's or early 80's model. It was in the condo since he bought it in 1999, and the condo was built in the 1970's. Recently, my friend told me that it was leaking, and a repairman told him...

what would be your dream vintage dishwasher to own in 2025

Yes, my KDS 19 is built to outlast me! I love it! The dishes etc are always perfectly cleaned. Air drying is good, but tilting glasses or pots so water doesn't pool up helps.

What were your childhood interests in appliances, machinery, etc?

Ok, I'll pitch in on this thread as well..... here goes... Started as a child, 7 years old, I got into everything in the house.... I took apart the family record player - got yelled at for that. The pump belt on mom's Easy Spindrier slipped off, and I managed to put it back on. As a teen, mom's...

Well Pierre, tell your mom that although the cost to buy the Speedqueen is scary to her, it's a "one time" investment that will last decades.... a long time. Satisfied customers, and even several of my friends, all rate the SQ machines highly. Well worth the initial expense. Buying several...

Sorry about that broken GE. I've heard so many stories about modern appliances that don't last very long. It's a damn shame what consumers have to put up with. Thanks for your reply. Matt

Got new appliances after 18 years

Speaking about longevity... A home I once rented back in 1988 had an old early 1950's Philco fridge in the basement. Ya know, the ones with the rounded corners and big old clunky door handle. The dust on it was thick, but when I plugged it in, it fired right up! YAY!......basement cold beer storage!

Whirlpool WTW4816FW3: Bad control board and Lowes warranty issues

This reminds me of a neighbor's next door issue I dealt with about 10 years ago... They had a top-of-the-line GE Monogram dishwasher that had a faulty circuit board, and asked me to help fix the machine. I contacted GE customer service about a new board and was told that the cost would be $549...

Whirlpool WTW4816FW3: Bad control board and Lowes warranty issues

Good advice! It's pretty well known that Speed Queen has been a popular machine in commercial laundramats for decades. They HAD to be built tough since they were in continual, often rough use, and laundromats relied on them for their income. From what I know, they still use all-metal gears in...

Got new appliances after 18 years

Introducing electronics in things like washers, dryers, dishwashers, fridges, etc - may be attractive to the average consumer, BUT.... look where it's taken it's toll. Same goes for automobiles, vehicles... Used to be that owners could get these things fixed easily. Not any more.... pray for...

Got new appliances after 18 years

Yes, it has become frustrating these days to repair modern devices. Ten years for warehouses to keep parts in stock is in the past. More like 1 or 2 years is the norm today. Because manufacturers want you to buy "new" instead, they gain more of your money that way, and don't like having to...

Easy Spindrier shown in "Driving Miss Daisy"

Wow! When I was a child, my mom had that Easy Spindrier to wash our clothes in. It facinated me watching her do the family laundry. And boy could that agitator churn up the load of clothes! Then in 1963 dad tossed it and got mom a GE Filter Flo automatic. That GE lasted for about 17 years...

What is your favorite washer of all time?

Back in 1980 I lived in an apartment, a second floor duplex. It was my first apartment, I was 27 at the time. Down in the basement I found an old dusty RCA Whirpool washer. Looks like it wasn't used in decades. The kind with the black bakelite agitator. (Surgilator?) So after cleaning, I took a...

Just found a post on Reddit about a Whirlpool washer EXPLODING

I tend to agree their sir. Back in 2005, I installed a new GE 18,000BTU air conditioner in the dining room wall to replace an old 1970 Westinghouse unit that was hard on my electric bill. Naturally, the GE was a lot more efficient, and I was pleased with the purchase. However, last July...

Got new appliances after 18 years

Sorry for this long read, but I sometimes must get things off my chest.... Indeed, I've watched for decades the slow, deliberate decline of consumer products. From cars, to home products...the list is endless. I've worked for over 40 years in the electronics service industry as a well-taught...

Got new appliances after 18 years

Good luck with any "new" appliances these days. Sadly, I've seen too many "new" appliances need repairs or replacing by my friends or neighbors. Just a few months ago, my neighbor tossed out a 4 year old Samsing topload washer AND dryer due to both needing expensive repairs. Only Four Years old...
