    Even SQ has their issues

I base things on overall reality, naturally. However, I'm also not prone to manipulating or insulting others intelligence in order to suggest a certain type of product. After all, it's they're money, and they're freedom of choice. If I make a suggestion, it's only based on my experiences.

    Even SQ has their issues

I'm talking about switches that are activated by pushing a button, a frail delicate contact that is known widely for having corrosion set in, causing failure to close it's contacts. They're known in the trade as "tac" switches. As far as mechanical timers, it depends on the vendor who sells...

    Even SQ has their issues

You mentioned automotive electronics.... Well, the electronics should be made extremely well, because people's lives are sometimes dependent on it. Remember the Audi issue from years ago? Accelerator modules causing uncontrolled speeds, and plowing the poor victims to their death. In THAT case...

    Even SQ has their issues

    That does happen, on occasion.

    Even SQ has their issues

In 1987, products were still made reliable, for the most part. However, these days electronics have suffered an increasingly cheapened downslide in durability. Cost-cutting, bad choice of parts vendors, and greed by manufacturers.

    Even SQ has their issues

Asides from the SQ's having some minor mechanical parts issues, I firmly believe that any "electronic" stuff shouldn't be in such machines, of any brand. It goes without saying that ever since the washer world started using electronics, these issues have been the topic of discussions. Compare...

Why Has Whirlpool Never Sold a BOL Power Clean Module?

I'd like to clarify what I stated in my previous post. It sometimes depends on the soil on things like pots and pans - the heavy stuck-on stuff like burned on chicken skins or big patches of crusty meat or veggies. It's then that I'll get out the spatula and scrape it off before putting it in...

Why Has Whirlpool Never Sold a BOL Power Clean Module?

Exactly. And the government is the leading cause of a lot of the ills that society has been forced to endure. In simple terms, people have been made "nuts" over a lot of stuff. Two "nuts", a true story.... read on. I smoke cigarettes, Pall Mall Blue. (lights) I don't bother anybody, I'm pretty...

Samsung Top Loader Very Loud during Spin Cycle

It's not that "I know better" as you say. It's merely what experience I've seen and heard from reputable sources, along with my own findings as a professional servicer. And I've spoken with my neighbors recently who've also had Samsung appliances put out for trash because of being beyond repair...

Samsung Top Loader Very Loud during Spin Cycle

Nevertheless, things like that cement a poor reputation for a brand's products. With the birth of the internet with its apps and discussion/opinion websites, this can cause a major blemish on a company. Which it has. I've chcked out sites like the Better Business Bureau, Ripped-Off.com, and...

What Temp Is Your Thermostat Set?

That's right, suds. In Philly this june and july's been miserable with the heat and humidity. Hovering around 90, 90+, with high humidity all the time. The weatherman's "Real Feel" has been sticking around like a damn sweaty T shirt at 100-105 for a long while. I keep my AC on afternoons into...

Wanted: good old kitchen aid washer

Worst comes to worse, if the racks are coated metal, some JB Weld carefully layered on the rust spots will stop them permanently from getting worse. It may look a bit "off", but only a picky housewife would complain.... besides, it's inside. Give the JB Weld a day to set before using the machine.

Portable A/C's; improve with exhaust hose insulation

I know there are reasons for having those "portable" AC units, but I'd never consider using one. A friend of mine who owns a condo has great central air (Lennox) but the condo association forbids window AC's, citing that it "detracts" from the looks. My friend would like to cool just the bedroom...

Vintage "50 Years of Quality" InSinkErator 77 "Limited Edition" Garbage Disposal / Food Waste Disposer

My kitchen's got a sweet 3/4HP "333 PRO SS" Insinkerator that's been faithful for decades.

Samsung Top Loader Very Loud during Spin Cycle

Have you heard about the Samsuck washer that launched it's spinning tub full of clothes right through a homeowner's wall?

    Kitchenaid KDI-19....need some knowledge.

I have to say that those complaints are petty things that sound like OCD people. All the work of washing was done FOR them in the machine..... and they still complained? Petty.

    Kitchenaid KDI-19....need some knowledge.

Yeah, Mine's the Energy Saver IV "Custom" by Hobart KDC-19. Just the timer knob and 2 bushbuttons....... simple! I never used the "Rinse Hold" button, I don't even know what that entails. Just the Regular Wash is all I need.

    Kitchenaid KDI-19....need some knowledge.

I always run the hot water kitchen sink tap till it's hot, prior to starting the dishwasher too. I've noticed that the time it takes for the dishwasher's heating element to preheat is shortened when I do this. For that, I've then shortened the time on electrical heating use, which surely offsets...

    Kitchenaid KDI-19....need some knowledge.

I'm not sure if mine does. I know it does the "preheat" for the initial prewash, and for the last sani rinse. (light comes on) I believe it uses a lower heat for the main wash and rinses, and depends on the residual internal cabinet heat as well, which is part of the drying cycle when that...

Troubleshoot all the connections regarding the heating element first, before anything else. Switch contacts, wiring, etc.
