    TV Sightings

Have recently watched a few episodes of Everyone Loves Raymond, what are the washers in Raymonds House and Maries. Think its a GE in Raymonds house but not sure at his moms. Anyone's guess? Barry

    Westinghouse beauty

Well that's interesting. Didn't know Westinghouse borrowed from KA. I was expecting to see a "bowtie" impeller, and the racks are clearly KA influenced. Interesting. Did you save it? Barry

    My childhood washers

Robert, Welcome!!!!! It's nice to meet you. Hope that you will post and give your input on the threads. I was a caregiver to my Dad, he passed last summer from cancer and Alzheimer's, the last 3 years have been nothing but a nightmare. I took care of him for 1/3 of my adult life, and I had NO...

    Washing machine brand and year?

The agitators on those solid tub Norge’s were HUGE. They advertised it as “wave action,” and had both blooming and standard roll over pending on load size and the amount of water. Knew some family friends who had one of these washers, when they bought a Maytag after the Norge bit the dust, she...

    Tried going shopping

Eddie, You are right! When I picked up that package it seemed small to me. When I think of a brisket, I think of something that takes up most of the oven. Family always bought huge ones. Thank-you for pointing that out. But still, no way could I afford that. While at the store I saw a mother &...

    Tried going shopping

Was notified by the neighbors yesterday price of beef went up again in less than a week, they went grocery shopping yesterday morning and said they saw a beef brisket for $135.00 at H-E-B. I kind of second guessed that when they told me. So decided to go pick up some milk and a few things, and...

    Oxydol Commercials

Hi Barry! Think the Meadow Fresh smells about as close to the original as I remember. The powder works waaaaaay better than the liquid, which you can find at WalMart, but I also have a T/L SQ and powders do seem to clean better for this type of washer, in general. Found the powder at Dollar...

    Tried going shopping

Was on the news tonight, BBQ Brisket just hit $21.00 / lb this week in the area. Many BBQ houses are removing brisket from their menu's. Wow. Just. Wow!! South central Texas.

Since it doesn't look like we've had a detergent thread in a while...

Glad to see this thread, always curious as to what others are using and I've learned a few things in the past about detergents. For laundry, currently have a small stash of Tide W/Bleach that's running low, All Free & Clear for most loads, and powdered Oxydol for whites. I'm really liking the...

    Oxydol Commercials

Have been buying Oxydol at Dollar General, powdered version. It still smells the same and cleans as well as I remember. It's very good soap. Barry

    POD 5-17-20

That was one heck of an excellent washer. My mother had one of late 60's model with the lint filter towards the back of the drum. It would wash anything clean first time. It was loud and used tons and tons of water....but who was counting gallons back then?!?! I'd be proud to have that today. Barry

    Tried going shopping

Chris, Yes, the H-E-B in LaVernia. Have been shopping there, away from the I-35 corridor, less people and small town atmosphere. It's a little further for me to drive but I don't mind it. I'm seeing new brands as well on the shelves. Brands that I'm not familiar with. They are trying to fill...

    Tried going shopping

Went grocery shopping earlier in the week for a few items. Was going to buy a package of fajita meat and the price was $18.00. I set it back down and decided to fix a big pot of spaghetti. I can't believe the prices of meats, and some dairy. This week I'll fix a pot of red & pinto beans with...

A Few of my Favorite Things

What a fabulous collection. Anyone would be proud to have those. The memories they bring back. My mother was dyed-in-the-wool believer in those Speed Queens, she owned 2 sets back in the day, believed they washed better than any other washer. Hope that you will post videos once they are hooked...

    Where’s Laundtess?

Laundress, please don't do that again, stay in touch!!!! Was so worried about you. The social isolation is preying upon many, this isn't normal times, and I think it's here for the long haul. It gets old. So glad to hear from you, has truly brightened my day. You stay safe and keep your chin...

    Hand Dishwashing

Tom, I so miss the Sweetheart bath soaps. Grandmother bought them when I was a kid, they sort of had a mild lime scent, wonderful smell. Recently found Jergens bar soap, hadn't seen that in many, many years. It's a good soap, very mild. Love the motel soaps as well. I use Ivory Bar soap as a...

    Todays POD 4.20.20

Love this laundry room, the layout, décor, just about all of it. THAT would be my ideal laundry room. I'm wondering what kind of flooring is pictured, a rubberized linoleum? I remember windows like that as a child, thought they were neat but would let in flies. Don't know if my green thumb would...
