    1978 Hoover Selectamatic 1100 A2054 (A3064)

Hi Mike, 17 programmes is bound to cover every conceivable wash load in my opinion. I 100% agree with you in that it “looks” and “feels” more futuristic and fun slotting a Keyplate into a Keymatic than it is going a bit “primitive” and turning a dial on a Selectamatic. The Selectamatic is a...

    1978 Hoover Selectamatic 1100 A2054 (A3064)

Hi Steve, Thanks, I was unsure about it at first but I’m so glad I did take the plunge. Many thanks for uploading those pages! I assume the other A20xx machines were just mirrors of their UK counterparts? I will have to check out my earthing then haha! Yes the Keymatic fascia is a little worse...

Hi Mike, Thanks, I never knew about the National Steel Strikes but now that you mention it I remember watching a documentary recently about British Steel and all the stuff going on in the 1970s. I honestly thought it had a stainless steel tub because it was for the export market but that’s just...

    1978 Hoover Selectamatic 1100 A2054 (A3064)

Hi Richard, Thank you, I can't wait to have them both running side by side with their matching D6042 dryer. I see what you mean, actually the Keymatic 1100 has its drum removed for servicing. I'm not sure why there is a hole in the back of the Hoover drums. People have guessed over the years...

Finally, two sisters side by side. I do think a chrome door would look nicer. Does anyone have any A2054 specific information or literature? I know there is an A3064 manual online which is the same thing but it would be nice to see some A2054 stuff if it exists. That’s all for now, James

    1978 Hoover Selectamatic 1100 A2054 (A3064)

Lid off revealing a stainless steel tub and the programme barrel that acts like the famous Hoover Keyplate. The door seal which appears to be genuine or even original has completely perished so that will be getting replaced along with the bearings as they sound a little rough. Furthermore, I’m...

Programme dial - similar to that on the A3060.

    1978 Hoover Selectamatic 1100 A2054 (A3064)

Ratings sticker, made in Wales alongside the home market models for the export market. If I am correct in deciphering the serial number this appears to be an early machine from February 1978.

Ta-dah! It’s in lovely condition and some TLC will see it right for another couple of decades I’m sure.

Underneath the layers of plastic was something unique!

Hi Mathew, The Hotpoint 1600 has went through its maiden wash and works beautifully, I’ve just posted an update on its thread. Sorry for being quiet recently, a colleague was on holiday for a week so I had to cover for her and work has been busy in general with the good weather getting more...

    The First Hotpoint Front Loader

I nice little nook I must say! So that’s the Hotpoint 1600 saved and restored. What on earth am I going to do now since I won’t be spending my time looking for one LOL! James

    The First Hotpoint Front Loader

Finally, I got it moved into the wash house. It slotted in nicely beside the 1509 - I knew I left that space wide enough for a reason! ;)

    The First Hotpoint Front Loader

I took these before I put it all back together, all I did was wipe the insides with a damp cloth so it seems it was an easy life this machine had. The last picture is an interesting one - there is space and fixing holes for a second option slider and microswitch so it’s as if Hotpoint had plans...

    The First Hotpoint Front Loader

Here are some photos of the nice little lot of 1600 spares I bought. Hopefully I won’t need any of them for years to come but at least I can relax that I should be able to keep it going regardless of what problems it throws at me. The spare timer is manufactured by Eaton so it seems Hotpoint...

    The First Hotpoint Front Loader

Now for an update... I managed to repair the original hose so that I had the new old stock one to keep for years to come when I really do need it. So I went ahead and manually filled it up with water then walked away from it for half an hour. Hesitantly, I poked my head around the door and...

    The First Hotpoint Front Loader

Thanks Rob! I filmed a video of it on its maiden wash which is on YouTube. Here is the link to that if you haven’t seen it already. Regards, James http://https//youtu.be/0a5fKdfNugI

    The First Hotpoint Front Loader

Hi Mike, I've been informed by several engineers who worked on these that the AC-Delco motor is superior to the GEC motors fitted to the 1600s successors. I found hardly any trace of carbon dust and the brushes themselves are so easy to change - just unscrew the plastic caps and the brushes pop...

Hi Craig, I'm getting work done to my wash house, so I can't use anything apart from the Hoover New Wave, Hotpoint 1509 and Hotpoint 1600 for the time being. I'm hoping the work will be finished soon so I can get it back to normal. James
