    Bendix LTA Washer Dryer

Hi, It certainly is a lovely machine. I can't imagine the LTA was produced for very long knowing that the Italian produced machines came in around 1972. I really like the fascia on this model and I suppose Bendix knew that the LTs fascia was looking a bit dated (after all the LT was around...

An "All Fabric Automatic" - Introducing the Servis Mk41H!

UPDATE Hi everyone, Sorry for being so quiet over the past week or so! I spent most of that time dismantling the machine and considering my options for painting the panels. After one failed attempt I was very nearly about to part with a sum of money to get the machine professionally...

    hoover T5090 twintub

Hi Anthony, When inspecting the pump, did the rubber caps on the valve seat firmly against one of the entries in both positions? It's likely that the pump is sucking in air from the spinner and this slows things down considerably. It's a very common fault on most used Hoovermatics. James

    Bendix LTA Washer Dryer

Afternoon all, Here is the second machine I got on Thursday - a circa-1970 Bendix LTA washer dryer. This was the last Bendix washer dryer to be built in the UK before the Italian machines were introduced circa-1972. As can be seen it needs a lot of TLC like the Servis but hopefully I can...

An "All Fabric Automatic" - Introducing the Servis Mk41H!

Afternoon everyone, So yesterday I found a suitable vintage plug and fixed it to the end of the mains cable that was untouched for 50 years since it left the factory in Darlaston. I then removed the front panel to fit a temporary drain hose and free up the belts and pulleys before hesitantly...

An "All Fabric Automatic" - Introducing the Servis Mk41H!

Hi everyone, Although it's late I just couldn't end the day without introducing one of my newest acquisitions. This is a very special machine and I'm absolutely honoured to have one in my possession, honoured but surprised as it found me rather than I found it! This and another machine (I will...

    Keymatic 3224

Congratulations! Hi Mike, Although I congratulated you on other mediums I thought I should do so here as well so congratulations and welcome to the Keymatic club! I really like the blue bezel and underneath that layer of dust and cobwebs is a machine in good condition that has benefited from...

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

Hi Mike, I was quite surprised to see that type of weight when I removed the lid, next best thing to a cast iron weight I reckon. The parts list in the service manual says the blanking insert is a "bleach compartment cover". James

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

Hi Mike, Thanks, I'm really glad I took the plunge and went for it. It's good to try something new! I see your machine has the very same blanked off compartment in the dispenser, was this meant to be a bleach compartment for countries that bleached as part of their laundry regime? James

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

@Louis - Hi Louis, thanks for the lovely comment! Yes, I'm really growing fond of the sound the PM motor emits. For its size it's certainly up to the job and I did notice on the ratings sticker that it has a moderate power draw during tumbling. The timer switches the heater off during the...

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

My motto is if you don't ask you don't know! :) The door release is mechanical and interlinked with the timer so that it is only able to operate when the dial is at an off position. A lot of 1980s Hoover front loaders had dispenser release buttons but they were prone to failing. The spin speed...

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

Hi Kevin, It's had a water test earlier on today and as expected everything was 100%. It uses quite a bit of water but then again what 1970s front loader doesn't! It does indeed have H&C fill and the small knob on the right is for variable spin speed - uncommon in those days! The two brown...

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

And last but not least - that drum once again. It's really warming on me and I'm sure once it's done a few inaugural loads it will have won me over! James
