    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

Now I was surprised to see this - the water temperature in this machine is detected by a hydraulic thermostat. I would have thought that all front loaders used bimetallic thermostats by then!

That unique PerMag motor that Philips is renowned for using!

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

Obligatory photo of the ratings plate sticker. I'm not sure on how to decipher the exact age of this machine so if anyone can pitch in and decipher it I'd really appreciate that.

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

A few unusual components up around the top. I'm guessing that the large coil beside the inlet valves is something to do with suppression. Look at the size of that timer and the lack of coloured wires - I wouldn't fancy changing it!

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

The drum opening is slightly larger than most washing machines of this vintage.

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

Interesting weights in this machine, dense concrete encased in plastic - at least they won't chip or crack!

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

Front panel removed for easy access to the pump and door seal.

    1970s Philips 707 AWB126 Front Loader

This week I got a surprise when I saw this local to me on Gumtree. Nothing of this age usually comes up on it and I never imagined myself owning a Philips so after few minutes of thought I decided I'd go for it as I knew it was a 1970s model and fairly uncommon. I collected the machine on...

Gala Empress I enquired about the Gala Empress that featured earlier in the thread but it was already sold. Oh well, better luck next time! James

@liberator1509 Wow! That's 45 minutes away from me! I'm supposed to be making more room not adding to the collection hahaha... I know that these are almost the size of a Hotpoint top loading automatic so I'm not sure what I'm going to do just yet. The lack of a heater is a let down too but...

Last but not least, that very unique door seal and drum

"Press so, presto! That's the end, the end of washday!"

My Keymatic is now completely restored and in full working order! Things easily could have been so much different with this machine and I could have ended up with an expensive piece of furniture but I was lucky in that only the tub gasket, sump hose and drive assembly needed attention. I still...

"Press so, presto! That's the end, the end of washday!"

Hi all, Sorry for the delay, as you can imagine I'm busy sorting the old queen out haha! I've managed to take the front shell off to gain better access to the tub front and sump hose. Yesterday I tackled the main issue with my machine which is the small leak coming from the tub gasket. I...
