    Speed Queen TR washers

I don't believe they are updating the capacity. That was a rumor started on YouTube by the "appliance insider" a couple years ago. Stating they were in the process of building a new plant in Texas. They weren't, and still aren't, building a new plant in Texas.

Speed Queen TC5 Anniversary and sudsing issue.

My Speed Queen turned one year old today, got it delivered May 13th,2024. Had absolutely 0 issues for the first 80 loads or so (approx.), but around the first of the year it suds over on a load my wife ran. Then at the beginning of April or so it did it two loads in a row, again, my wife did...

    Speed Queen TR washers

There’s too many rust problems with the Speed Queen’s "There’s too many rust problems with the Speed Queen’s currently." Define currently, and what these rust problems are if you could. You (or anyone else) never mentioned them when you recommended the TC5 to me last year. All the old classic...

    VOA

combo52 If it makes you feel any better, only 32% of registered voters voted for this, almost 31% voted against him. Main problem is 36% didn't vote at all! Over a third of the population apparently doesn't care about the future of their country at all. It disgusts me that the right keeps...

    vintage telephones on moderm line

Reply #3 Thanks, I was fully aware of ADSL filters, but DSL wasn't mentioned in the OP, and he stated modern line, which I assumed to mean VOIP with an internet provider. DSL is no longer "modern". And it will work without one, just may have noise on the line. Cable Internet/phone modems put...

    vintage telephones on moderm line

Filter? What do you mean by a filter on the line? I have an old 70's Western Electric in my basement. Probably from when the house was built (1975). It works fine on an internet phone line, no filter used. What does the filter do? Hardly ever use a phone in the basement, so I just left it...

Maytag walks across floor during spin cycle

It's odd the previous owner didn't get a refund, or a warranty repair. Really, if it did that since new, he would just get a refund/exchange from Lowes. If he really only did 50 loads, it would be less than a year old (under warranty). I have feeling he used it more than he thought he did, or...

    my fear

i think its 1988 but not sure about the model number It looks just like my old 1989 A211, but it has a lot more options. Looks like it's a A712, never guess where I found it! https://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?14498

    A cryptic email from Polaroid

I never cared for Polaroid instamatics. The quality was horrible, and the prints didn't age well at all. Always stuck to 35mm. I went digital for cameras in 2004, and have never looked back. No more paying to develop film, just to find out you took some lousy pictures! I also prefer to view my...

What is the most reliable top load washing machine in 2025 (besides Speed Queen)?

From all the research I did last year, LG seemed to get the best reviews for reliability. This scared me, so I went with Speed Queen. Any reason you aren't considering them?

    A cryptic email from Polaroid

Someone bought the Polaroid name 20 years ago. They have been branding all sorts of things with the name, TV. radios, digital cameras, and even instant Polaroid cameras, etc. My guess would be it's a new instant camera, but who knows.

Washer and Dryer Cycle Times To Long?

Reply #15 I'm not sure why my mother in laws, and neighbors machines take so long. I know they take forever to fill, as they will stop filling, rotate, start filling again (auto balancing?). And a few other oddities, like very long pauses between wash/spin/fill cycles. My neighbor has Kenmore's...

Washer and Dryer Cycle Times To Long?

A soak period before the rinse, and a longer agitation time. The charts are a bit confusing, as it only gives total time without any options. There is this: Heavy Soil - Fill/Agitate/Soak/spin 24:00 Others: Wash - Fill/Agitate/Spin 17:30 I have no idea how much of that extra 6.5 minutes is...

Washer and Dryer Cycle Times To Long?

appnut I meant that I don't have the choice for a longer cycle. According to the TC5 manual, Eco, which I don't use is 27:50, with no options, 34:50 with extra rinse. Permanent Press is 29:40, and ALL others are 32:40. I find it's closer to 35 minutes. Heavy soil has the pre-soak, and I did...

Washer and Dryer Cycle Times To Long?

My TC5 takes 35 minutes. I have no choice (unless I do a pre-soak, never have), and it seems fine. My mother in law, and my neighbors top loaders shortest cycles take about 80 - 90 minutes, and they don't have any choice. And they don't like it. Does the SQ that Jerome uses take longer? My...

Is it over for Whirlpool ?

Reply #29 We still manufacture plenty in the USA, and it's still growing. We also are the number 2 exporter in the world, second only to China. But we still export half as much as they do, with less that 1/4 the population. We were doing fine. Don't buy into all the nonsense...

Is it over for Whirlpool ?

Reply #25 Building everything here was never the point of the tariffs. Notice victory has already been claimed? Even though NOTHING has changed. We used to call it insider trading...

Is it over for Whirlpool ?

Don't know if anyone else noticed, but MANY companies announced layoffs after someone claimed he would tariff the entire world, steel, and aluminum. And many aren't appliance makers. But appliance makers do rely heavily on steel, and Chinese electronics.

Friend Called.. They got a new Maytag TL Washer

Fake reviews? I don't think the reviews are fake. But people are much more likely to review or comment on a product if it breaks, or has other issues. And I don't consider YouTube comments to be reviews. Reviews are always biased toward the negative. People who never have an issue, don't have...

    EPA Reversals

OK, I've never seen a control box around here. Just submersibles with built in capacitors, so you can't replace just the cap, and no control box. If you can't get the pressure switch to get to 30/50, the switch or pressure gauge is bad. Both are pretty cheap, easy DIY. When I got a new tank, my...
