    Hello Again, and well.......

So why don't I LOVE it? This machine is awesome, fun, pleasurable to load, etc...... But clean the damn dishes! The problem is what I remember of KA's of this era-deposits left on dishes. It has nothing to do with the machine itself not working fully, nor improper water temp, pressure...

    KitchenAid KDS-17A

Also, keep in mind..... that the Superba model cleans more thoroughly than the Imperial, Custom or Deluxe models in the "Soak & Scrub" and "Heavy Wash" cycles. That is described in the "cycle breakdown" in their brochures.

New member - looking for a vintage KA dishwasher

Happy Hunting! I recently acquired a KitchenAid KDS-19. Fun machines and definitely very retro. I suggest, as others may agree, to try for an 18-20 series. That way you get the FULL KA washing system with two wash arms instead of just one. Even better if you score a Superba model as they wash...

    KUDS-23 Bobload; Certification needed

When needed I will use a larger silverware basket. Rarely though. Since a silverware basket can be packed pretty full and still achieve good cleaning results, it is very RARE that I need anything larger than the rather small basket I use. The basket is from my Bosch that I used it in all the...

    KUDS-23 Bobload; Certification needed

You wasted a TON of space..... with that huge silverware basket. And it's nearly empty at that! Utilize a smaller silverware basket and you can even outdo a Bobload. I've done it.

Looking for portable washer for my apartment

Great Little Machines! Love them and have had several of them over the years. And those "mini surgilators" were utterly awesome little agitators. They sure moved the clothes around. Very gentle and yet absolutely thorough in cleaning and moving the clothes around the tub.

Old Belt Drive ,Standard Direct Drive and New VMW Washers

Thanks norgeway "the DD tub is awkward because its deep and narrow" That is definitely ONE of the main reasons DD's were terrible machines. The best though is: "of course is the belt drive washes....the DD THRASHES!!!" Also as mentioned in an earlier reply: "Agitation is gentler in a BD...

New acquisitions: Speed Queen commercial Fluid Drive and KitchenAid KDS17 DW

What a great score! 2 great appliances in one! Love those old Speed Queens. They are awesome machines. That model and colour as well, were very popular in Landromats here in Ontario, Canada. It was Maytags in Avocado Green and Speed Queens in Harvest Gold-that was the Landromat standard...

    Hello Again, and well.......

Oh, btw..... Should I make a video? I could set up the camera to film it in action. But no open door fun. Just the lights and the control panel and well......not much as it progresses through the cycle. Let me know if that would be of interest to anyone and I'll try it out. Otherwise, no need...

    Hello Again, and well.......

New Question.... So, I've figured out this machines weakness as I'm getting to know it these few weeks now. The biggest issue is, as barcoboy pointed out, the lack of the "Constant-Rinse". Because of this, I would like to ask that if anyone has parts or is parting with an 18, I'd like to...

Kitchen Aid Superba by Hobart Portable Dishwasher

Beautiful Machine! Definitely a great machine to inherit. I just acquired a machine similar to yours a few weeks ago and am truly enjoying the experience. There are many great people on this forum to help you with any issues you have. Take good care of your inheritance and it will reward you...

    Need help with DE50

Great job love seeing the pics of the process. I peeked into mine when I first got it, but haven't ever put it to use due to the belt issue. I love seeing the "Halo-of-Heat" element. These machines dry very quick and thoroughly, I find. But also very gently. Wonderful little toys and great...

    Presenting the Maytag 906 Extravaganza

Wow...That was awesome!!! And on the same day as "Jurassic World" premieres. Oh my, it's a great day in movieland. La La.....

    Maytag WU1000

What a GREAT find!!! Good for you! I'm with you in that I absolutely love the Maytag RR machines. I still feel it is the most versatile and capacious machine one will ever use. And fun to load because of that. But you have to have used one to know and understand that. Noisy as a freight train...

    Hello Again, and well.......

Hi stevet! The leak is definitely due to the lower gasket being slightly "off" as I have mentioned. That is where the leak is and because of it is how I discovered that the gasket was off. I've had the front panel off and everything is fine behind there as well. I just have to get that gasket...

    Hello Again, and well.......

Oh my, what's this now? So, I think I may have discovered the problem causing the small leak in the front of the machine near the left side. As I had mentioned in and earlier post, there is a slight leak in the front of the machine due to the gasket seal UNDER the door having a gap and...

Should I pick up this Kenmore set? (advice for newbie)

First of all.... I want to apologize to amyofescobar. I did not mean to interrupt nor take over your post. I wish you all the best in your search as it can be really confusing searching for something in the vintage world and unsure what you really want/need. Aside from that, my comments about...

Should I pick up this Kenmore set? (advice for newbie)

Oh right, I should'a kept my mouth shut. I forgot I'm not supposed to have an opinion when Yogitunes is in the room. It's not like I haven't worked in appliance repair, installation, stripping/rebuilding and later in sales or anything. Not to mention years of running a domestic cleaning...

Should I pick up this Kenmore set? (advice for newbie)

I guess some people don't READ! I listed several reasons for why these were NOT good machines. Sure, they may last a while in many cases, and they sold 30 million + Blah, Blah, Blah..... They do NOT rinse well, have terrible filtration, are noisy and very rough on the clothing. Just cause...
