So I picked up a dryer today...

Time to remove the box. This would be the AW equivalent to a striptease. Lol. An appliance striptease.

So I picked up a dryer today...

So back to the shop we went. Whatever could this dryer be? Let's look at the box for clues. It is worse for wear since it was stored right next to the garage door.

So I picked up a dryer today...

Ok. On with the show! So, the story is... My local parts supplier put a lady in touch with me who had asked if they knew anyone who liked old washers and dryers. (I must remember to buy them about a ton of doughnuts...). I went to meet her at her parents house. She told me that back in 1974...

    Metal cabinets... By Kelvinator?

Very nice shape. Seen during a call. First thought was Youngstown but then saw the emblem. The glass sliding upper doors were awesome looking. Did Kelvinator just put their name on them or did they actually make them? RCD

If says Westinghouse, you can be sure it's toast!

Yes she is! Her job on the Maytags inspired me to buy that toaster and spiff it up. I had absolutely NO other reason to pick up yet another small appliance. Ummm, yeah. It's all Steph's fault... ;) RCD

If says Westinghouse, you can be sure it's toast!

The title just was too good to resist. LOL! Found this at a yard sale during my route. As Stephanie would say, I opened a can of elbow grease on it. It came remarkably clean. Replaced the cord end with a period plug that I had saved away for just such an occasion that looked like what was on...

    Maytag Update...

I'm proud of you, Steph! I knew you could do it, and from what I'm learning about you, it's just so You to fix the stuff that no one but you would have ever known about. I wish my trainee techs had your work ethic and pride in what you do. Ever think about moving to Nevada? I could and would...

A couple of concerns about my Maytag 806 washer

Hmmm... One wonders if the pump belt is out of adjustment and slapping/scraping the belt guard attached to the front panel. It's easy to have happen and to fix. That or the belt guard is bent up a small amount and making contact with the belt or motor/pump pulleys. Taking off the front cover...
