But Wait There's More - Vintage 1960's WP Toploader In UK

Voltage Looking at the pictures could that be a US style plug on the power lead on the floor to the right of the picture? I can see the washer running off a step down transformer but would the dryer be 240v? And if it was I guess it could be adapted to work on our 240v here. The seller is in...

Coal For Cooking/Heating. Any Of You Lot Actually Experience?

My favourite Fish and Chip shop is in a little village in Lincolnshire where the fish and chips are still cooked in beef dripping on a coal fired range. Its somewhere I've been visiting since I was small and my Aunt used to live in the next door village, since she moved I only manage to get...

A Big Thank You For another great weekend of good company and excellent food. The design and layout of the new facilities and the new kitchen/diner are stunning. Looking forward to the new time. Hotpoint Liberator 1828/01

Steve I spotted this too, it was the dispenser drawer that caught my eye. Glad its gone to a good home. I do like the purple doors but I fear they wouldn't go well with my kitchen décor! Ian

A Visit To The M.E.B (MidlandsElectricity Board) Showrooms

Spin Speeds etc Appnut The majority of British twin tubs and separate spin dryers spun at speeds in the 2000 to 3000 rpm bracket, there were a few that were a little slower and the later Hotpoint Supermatic managed 3100rpm. They're all pretty good at shifting water though. Rolls Yes the plastic...

A Visit To The M.E.B (MidlandsElectricity Board) Showrooms

Mathew The later Classic 90's had the dark oven interiors, well my previous one did. We had the Duomatic dry running, there isn't anything to keep the water in at the moment as all the hoses that remain are either split or rock hard. The wash side runs fine but the spinner seems to be very...

A Visit To The M.E.B (MidlandsElectricity Board) Showrooms

Many Thanks To Al, Darren, Mike and Steve for a great time and all your help last Saturday. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I just need to carry on where we left off now. Vacerator The Wedgwood design is called Pennine, there is a green version called Cambrian too. Introduced in the...

A Vacbear Birthday, Beamish and Building works....

Happy Birthday Al, it looks like you've had a great weekend. I've just said to Darren the pic in reply 75 looks like it should be a prog rock album cover! What's the machine on the second tier of the racking that's side on at the opposite end to the Rolls? And can I have four yards of that...

    1961 Duo-Matic Twin Tub

Rolls I saw the Duomatic name on the motor but hadn't thought of it being a sticker until you mentioned it. When I get a minute I'll tip it over again and have a look, I'm guessing it will probably be a blank space left specially to put the sticker into. Regards Ian.

    1961 Duo-Matic Twin Tub

My Take On this was something similar to Mathew but I thought that full cycle might have been a timed fill with no spin followed by spin/spray rinsing at the Rinse Spin position, but perhaps I'm hoping for a bit much for my extra 10 guineas! A thought did come to me this morning, I wonder if...

    1961 Duo-Matic Twin Tub

Rolls I think it is as Mathew said earlier that the control is a timed operation. The wiring diagram doesn't seem to show a pressure switch, like a Hoovermatic, so I'm guessing the timer switches the valve and water runs into the spinner, it then switches the water off and spins out. The things...

Another Duo-matic for sale on eBay

Mathew I think you're right about that drain hose it doesn't look like there is anything on the end of it, it must have just hooked back over and through the lid. Odd thing on mine is if the wash hose was the same bore as the spin hose it would be took big to go through the hole in the wash tub...

Another Duo-matic for sale on eBay

Mathew I'd not thought about that with the lid, guess I was too excited about the tap adaptor! I did notice that the hose and cable storage look better than the four plastic blocks mine has (if you look at the pic I posted one is missing) and if the mains cable is original its a bit beefier...

You Wait Ages For A Bus........ Rob That's very interesting, I'd not seen this one. It's also a lot closer to home for me but a lot more expensive than the other one. The questions now are whether it's earlier or later in production and what electric cooker the replacement timer knob has come...

    1961 Duo-Matic Twin Tub

Mathew Yes it does say 1400rpm so not that quick, but I guess it will pump out quite quickly running the pump at that speed. The wash motor picture didn't come out too clearly but I think that looks like it says 425rpm, I did think it was 1425rpm at first but after a thought sanity prevailed...
