    70s, 80s, and 90s Maytags - Comparison

As a long time owner of a 1972 Maytag A606, I avoid buying sheets with too high a thread count.  Ordinary (read: not really expensive) sheets don't form air pockets that the machine can't work it's way through.  I also don't buy really heavy queen size comforters, as the machine will easily wash...

    Help! Maytag A-208 outer tub

I believe the early A806 & A606 big tub machines had only 3 water levels for the first few years starting in 1966.

50's Frigidaire fridge attempted restoration... Florida Man strikes again!

Nice job putting that fridge back to the way it belongs. My high school refrigeration teacher said that Frigidaire "meter miser" compressor was the best household refigerator compressor ever made.

    GE sale to Haier complete

The Filter-Flo washers certainly wash up a storm, but they drank water and ate transmissions. If they continued to build them today they'd be a laughing stock. The old GE didn't take care of their service techs, and their parts prices to consumers were about the highest in the industry. Who...

    GE sale to Haier complete

Shame? The shame should have happened back in the 1980s when GE's appliance division fell apart.   GE appliance quality couldn't have possibly been any worse than it was back when Haier bought them out 5 years ago.

One extinct feature you would revive?

    Vintage Maytag's

Full-size Fords and Chevys in the mid to late 1960s are subject to frame rot. That LTD looks worthy, but you need to climb under it with a ball-peen hammer and make sure the frame is solid. Replacing frame rails is no fun.

    Ge Filter Flo Clutch

I thought that changing the speed when the washer was running is what damages the clutch.  Am I correct?

GE short film "Dream Merchants" (1960)

A sexist film featuring GE ranges for 1960. I don't believe this film has surfaced on the web before. From Fran Blanche's Youtube channel:

    RCA-Whirlpool?

Jack Welch single-handedly destroyed GE's appliance division. What he did may have looked good on paper, but he basically turned GE into a banking company with no physical substance. They called him "neutron Jack" because, like a neutron bomb, he left buildings standing, but did away with the...

Is this Maytag Quiet series dishwasher considered a TRUE/GENUINE Maytag dishwasher?

If this model came on in 2006, as the newsreel above states, would this not be a Whirlpool design?

Another "Aunt" vanishes from the breakfast table

In the south years ago, a white person did not call a black person Mr. or Mrs. They used Aunt or Uncle instead. This is a point that many people are unaware of today, and why these product names are considered offensive.
