    HVAC central air in particular

Mine is a 1977 Sears unit made by Heil. Amazingly old but still cranking out the cold. It's a bit undersized for the house and struggles on the hottest days but still going faithfully. Compressor went out in 1986, found a guy that was retiring and had left over parts, replaced that for $300.00...

How about old furnace is still in use

Ahh the old floor furnaces. Used to be very popular around here, usually either nat. gas or propane. Many (if not most) have been replaced with forced air systems in this area so that central air could be added. Many of these replacements use the hole in the floor where the floor furnace was as...

Bought ours new Jan. of 2004. Still going today with never a repair so far. Noisy, feels cheap but has never failed us.

Interesting move there Robert! How many of us noticed the fine print in the ad--"tune in to Meet Me In St. Louis Sunday night April 26"?

    Speed Queen spin issues

I have been toying around with a Speed Queen, model #AWS45 NW that has trouble getting up to speed during spin. On many loads, the spin cycle is almost finished by the time the tub gets up to speed. I have replaced the belt, replaced the tensioner spring on the idler pulley, still with same...

What is the longest-serving vintage washer in YOUR collection?

Mine would be a 1958 Maytag. I found this at an estate sale still hooked up and in use. The house was about the same vintage, so it's quite possible this washer had sat in the same place for it's 50+ years of service and appears to have been well cared for. This old gal was quite happy where she...

What was the longest dryer that you have known and seen working since your childhood?

Longest lasting known to me would have to be the 1964 Maytag I picked up at an estate sale a couple years back. Still humming along beautifully.
