    Bendix Economat

I was browsing old threads, looking for information on the Bendix Economat and found one from "Jetcone" from 2007 wanting to sell the service manuals for the Bendix Economat and the Norge timeline. These are two of my favorite vintage machines, bringing back memories of my childhood, the two...

    POD 2/2/11

Thanks so much Robert, I love the literature. I did a little research and found patent number 2665575 for Apex Electric Mfg. Co. wobble "bouncing basket" washing machine and its drive mechanism and construction. This one does not have a control panel like yours but the "innards" looks the...

Robet, All I can say is WWOOWW!! I am a fairly new AW member and thoroughly enjoyed your story on your 13 year quest for this rare bird of a machine and how you actually found it 4 miles from your home. It was truly meant to be for you. I do have so many questions about its operation, your...

    POD 2/2/11

Does anyone have any info on this Apex washamatic? Looks like an Agi-tub? I found a past thread on rare or not yet found washers and the washamatic topped the list. Who made Apex and what years were they manufactured? Thanks.

Beautiful 1967 Frigidaire Rollermatic in New Smryna Beach, Fl

I downloaded the rollermatic manual and it did take awhile, but boy was it worth it. I think I am hooked. This is one cool machine and drive mechanism. I always liked Frigidaire TL, but never paid much attention to the operation until becoming a member on AW.org. I now have 2 machines in mind...

    1970 GE washer/dryer combination information

Would love to see photos of your machine. Is this a recent purchase or one you've had for awhile?

Beautiful 1967 Frigidaire Rollermatic in New Smryna Beach, Fl

Looks like a very clean machine in good shape. Pricing is one thing I really need to know more about when it comes to these vintage machines. $200.00 seems fair to me. While on the subject of Roller-matics, I have been trying to find information on the drive mechanism and how it works. Then I...

Turqouise Dude; that is one gorgeous kitchen. How lomg did it take you to find it and where? I am drooling!! I am fairly new to the site and never saw it before. The way the turqouise matches your choice of new woodgrain cabinets is also superb. Love everything about that GE electric combo, I...

What years were these awesome Westy 1000's manufactured?

    1929 Frigidaire

I have to say I have never worked with SD refrigerant, all the units I dealt with were R12 and expansion valves, from the early 50's. I have worked with high side floats on a limited basis, if the float is stuck closed it will not admit liquid to the evap and it will "pump down" and cycle on...

    1929 Frigidaire

Douglasdc: I would love to see some pics if you have them of your belt drive condensing units. I am a refrigeration technician for 37 years and when I started back in 1973 alot of grocery stores still had the belt drives. I loved those units and very partial to the older stores.

    Bendix Power Surge

The turnover action was fantastic in the Power Surge. Does anyone perhaps know a patent number that can be looked up?

    Bendix Power Surge

I just saw a You Tube video for the Bendix Power Surge 1956/57. Looks like an amazing machine. I know about the FL ,achines and the Economat, but never the Power Surge. Looks like a fore runner for the GE harmony with a full tub of suds and water. Does anyone have any information about this...

    Rebuilding Westinghouse laundromats

What can you tell me about the Westy Tall Tumbler? Looks like a cool machine. What years were they built? Do thet have the same 3 belt drive system and components as the SF?

    GE Combo

Had a 1980 TOL Filter Flo with a Mini Basket with the sam style control panel. It was a real work horse, only repairs in 18 years was 2 clutch replacements and a belt until the transmission started leaking than locked up at 19 years old. I didn't realize that slanted control panel went back as...

    Rebuilding Westinghouse laundromats

Thanks 3beltwesty for all the info, you sure know these machines inside and out. It's amazing that Westinghouse kept that proven design for 50 years. It obviously was a great drive system and had to make it easy for service since the same parts were used for that length of time. The SF...

    Old Washers/Dryers

Welcome aboard Andy! I too am a rookie AW member and still on a quest for my first vintage washer. Like just about all those here, I also loved washers and driers as a small kid, not so much the "laundry" aspect of it, cause when the machines were done running that meant ironing and folding...

    Rebuilding Westinghouse laundromats

First: Happy New Year to all AW.org members, may it be healthy and safe and may all your dream machines come your way. Which brings me to, Second: I think my growing love of vintage washers and driers and my hope of finding one from the 50's or 60's came years too late(i've always loved them...
