    CAFE Appliances

Cafe was always a sexier GE Profile. I quite liked the look of their double oven ranges. Looks like they’ve added a bunch of color customizations now—interesting way to combat the x-stainless flavor of the week from other manufacturers.

    GE Portable Dishwasher

Anyone think we’ll get a tall tub remake of the under-the-sink dishwasher, or will it just disappear entirely?

Strange things I see in houses with appliances

Agree with all of those pet peeves and a few more: 1. Non-reversed dryer door, most commonly seen with stacked front loaders 2. Enormous fridge that dominates the kitchen, or a standard fridge where a counter depth model would have looked much better. 3. Microhood too close to stovetop where...

    Choosing an energy star washer

2 things: the 3500 isn’t a turbo wash machine, and any load with a sheet stretched across the back of the tub like that on a front loader will have dry spots. Think about the high spin speed, how thin the fabric is, and what will happen to the water that’s in the part of the sheet that’s in the...

    Choosing an energy star washer

Another vote for the LG. I have the WM3575 which has turbo wash but no heater. I am satisfied in every way with it. When I sell this house I’ll probably leave it so that I can get the same one but with the heater, just for fun.

Frigidaire Front Load washers are JUNK!

Yep, always thought seeing the many different permutations of this machine was fun. Had one in college that I liked a lot. They’re quite common in vacation rentals out here so I still get to use one from time to time. My favorite is the GE Profile with the color logic controls but it seems to be...

Whirlpool / Kenmore Coin-Op Electric Dryer

Nice. Didn’t know they still made Kenmore-badged coin ops!

    Your ONE-SIDED Wash Loads

If you’re that worried about rinsing, use an extra rinse if your machine has it or do one manually after the cycle, while using an appropriate water level to prevent the out of balance condition

    Question for you tech guys...

I too have T-Mobile and am pretty happy with it. I can tether at no additional charge while AT&T used to charge me like crazy for this feature. I have a 6 GB plan where I can roll over up to 20 GB at a time, which I only ever dip into when I’m traveling. Finally many music and video streaming...

Magic Chef Double Oven Range - Northern CO

Admittedly the pictures are crap but posting anyway as I didn't know this relatively modern-looking model existed. https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/app/d/pierce-double-oven-stove-top/6953406285.html

Thread 80219 Is Doing Something Really Crazy. Take A Look.

It's fine on MacOS 10.14.5 with Safari. I'm sure it has something to do with the embedded Flickr images though. It's better to stick with the aw.org image hosting anyway as you can be sure when someone wants to look at your thread in five years the images will still be there.

    GE JVM2070SH001 OTR Microwave

My grandparents had two of these in rental vacation homes. Both ended up with bad touch screens and were replaced.

    Washing your Sleeping Bag

From the LL Bean website: "You can wash a synthetic sleeping bag in a large commercial front-loading washer. Use a mild detergent and wash on a gentle cycle with warm water. Dry the bag in a clothes dryer set below 140°F or outdoors on a clothesline. Some campers put tennis balls in the dryer...

Vintage GE or Hotpoint (?) cooktop and oven in house

Not to get even more off topic, but I love old houses where a dishwasher has been put anywhere it will fit. After all, there's no rule that says it HAS to be immediately adjacent to a sink!
