    What are these things?

While cleaning out my in-law’s estate (a farm) we encountered these items. One item is a device that punches “AA 409” onto things. The other is a round, clampy thing with holes. Any ideas what these are? All comments, good or bad or campy jokes welcome.

Time To Stop Reheating Foods In Microwave

I am one with my microwave Not only did I work for a rather popular microwave-oven manufacturer (name withheld), but I taught training classes for techs and learned tips and tricks with our own home-economist. For that reason I can make my virtually indestructible SHARP R-930BK...

    Pink dishwasher. Help.

Pink Miele Why this Miele stained with a common error actually surprises me a bit. However, I do like my Miele in every way regardless. I shall forgive its small sins…

    Pink dishwasher. Help.

Will do. Not sweating it. I’ll let the stains fade away along with the memory of my I. D. 10T error.

What model is this Panasonic Inverter?

The Kenmore is a Sanyo That Kenmore / Sanyo is a great microwave. Had one years ago. A neighbor threw it away. Pulled it into the garage for a quick check. Shorted magnetron. Replaced magnetron with a new generic replacement. Gave it to my mother who used it at work for a good number of...

    Pink dishwasher. Help.

After a few Manhattans I put both my Vollrath pedestal electric skillet and its tomato sauce in my Miele dishwasher thus staining all interior plastic parts of the dishwasher pink. What is your fix? Do not recommend fewer Manhattans. Doesn’t work.

    How do I wash this?

Deluge of suggestions Thanks to all for the immense amount of great information! Didn’t quite expect so much info so fast and am appreciative. Washer is a two-speed AWS52NW SQ. However, I will not be agitating it but rather may just use the tub as a soaking mechanism as suggested. I trust my...

    How do I wash this?

This was given to me by a dear friend and it has sentimental value. Rarely used, I don’t recall ever washing it. However, the time has come. I imagine my top-loader will unwind or shred it and for that reason I am asking your expert advice. And… what DO you call this sort of blanket? Thanks...

    Magic Chef Dishwashers History

Maytag, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Glenwood, Sunray For years, while traveling to work, I would be behind a Maycor / Maytag factory service truck daily. If I remember correctly, the signage on the door read like this: Maytag, Magic-Chef, Admiral, Norge, Glenwood, Sunray. I may have been wrong...

    Magic Chef Dishwashers History

Magic Chef cont’d We had a Magic Chef (rebadged GE) dishwasher at one time. Worked for years as expected. Also: In 1979 Admiral Corporation was bringing its operations to a close. After closing its American electronic operations, it sold its appliance division to Magic Chef. This gave Magic...

    Speed Queen Dryers Running Hot

My 1997 Speed Queen started running too hot Items coming out of the dryer at end-of-cycle were too hot. The timer was faulty. Shorted contacts in the timer caused the cool-down cycle to malfunction as the heat was incorrectly active until the total end of cycle. Replacement of the timer and...

    Garage heater / Installation opinions

Excellent points all Thanks for broadening my concepts of remedies for the situation. Also: The floor in the den above finished cherry-wood flooring. The idea of an area rug is being kicked around. Don’t want to hide the nice floor entirely. There is a huge pipe from the bottom of breaker...

    Garage heater / Installation opinions

Mini-Split I actually DID consider a mini-split for the den and that is still not completely out of the question. Carrier has a narrow “console” that looks like it could fit low and snug on one of the short walls where a baseboard heater would not be practical. And indeed it would heat and...

    Garage heater / Installation opinions

Breakers: 200A Box # 1. 100A Box # 2 The owner of the HVAC came over to do the estimate and was not the final electrician. He surmised that it didn’t matter much which box fed the heater. I was dubious about that since box # 2 had numerous high-current devices already. He said that the...

    Garage heater / Installation opinions

Yes I have.. I have thought about adding permanent baseboard heat to the den and letting the garage go. Tricky tho. The garage heater isn’t absolutely mandatory as some residual heat enters the garage from the house. The garage doesn’t go below freezing. We’ve lived with this minor issue for...

    Garage heater / Installation opinions

A finished garage The builder went the extra mile. I used to joke that I should replace the ceiling lamps with chandeliers. Cleaning baseboards in the garage is such the chore! LOL! Excuse the mess. Garbage day is tomorrow. Maybe this is a 2 1/2 car garage. However I have fit three cars in...
