    Spiffy Hotpoint BOL

Barry I really wish you would stop with the personal attacks on Combo52/John. I think there are a lot of members who completely agree with your opinions on the performance and durability of the vintage appliances we all have in our homes but the personal attacks are not helpful in getting your...

You pay for what you get...

There’s even a video online of a 1954 Frigidaire unit Attick washer disintegrating because its balance ring self-destructed. Now that I gotta see, link please?

    Warm Rinse Suds

I like my modification better as you will get hot/warm/cold wash and warm or cold rinse. His modification gives you hot wash/hot rinse, warm wash/warm rinse or cold/cold. You could of course adjust the water temp control after the wash agitation begins but my modification is more automatic.

    Warm Rinse Suds

So I've received a couple of requests by email about how exactly to wire a relay into this Speed Queen washer to achieve warm deep and spray rinses. I created a simple schematic using the SQ wiring diagram. In order to do this you'll need to know how to do the following, if you're not sure...

    Warm Rinse Suds

What I would do is add a simple relay that its switching coil is energized whenever the cold water solenoid is energized. Then have the relay send power to the hot water solenoid whenever its switching coil is energized, this way you'd have automatic warm rinses. You could add a toggle switch...

    My Detergents Arrived

Robert, are those powders vintage? How do you choose which powder to use? Yes all the stickers on the plastic containers are actual scans of the boxes that were poured into them. I'm going through my detergent collection on my display shelves by heating the bottom of the box with a heat gun...

Pink Hotpoint Silhouette Washer and Dryer

The spin speed on these CoAxial transmission Hotpoints are 600-610rpm. The biggest issue with these machines is the brake spring above the transmission getting weak and letting the tub index too much during agitation which tends to throw some of the water out and reduces the water level...

June 11 2024 POD Tide Detergent Ad with GE Washer

The 1955 models had black buttons and activator cap with a light gray filter-mount and filter-flo flume. In 1956 they went to a black cap but turquoise greenish buttons and flume/mount.

    Today’s picture of the day

Those 2 or so years that Westinghouse used Easy to build their top loaders they contained Easy's Velva-Power transmission. I never like the Velva-Power as it had the abosulte worst designed spin clutch in all of early washer history. It simply used a clutch spring that would lock the brake...
