    Whirlpool VMW washer

Chetlaham, the machine of yesterday that WP made was called the World Washer. I think they made the platform to be adaptable to multiple countries, adding or subtracting a component as needed. For example, for some applications the drain hose would be simply laid down on the ground instead of...

    Swash

Yes, DADOeS, it is a Whirlpool product. I got it at a Marcone open house where a Whirlpool rep was giving it out as swag.

    Swash

I was able to use some Swash concentrated laundry detergent today on a load of wash in my fabulous Speed Queen TC5. The bottle has a regulated dispense mechanism inside; you turn it upside down and squeeze and it stops when the portion is dispensed. I can' say his stuff is memorable. The laundry...

Acquired some Kenmore 80 and 90 series machines

Iirc, under a plastic or paperboard cover on the top left, you have to remove some hoses from a plastic tube thing. Sometimes you can take off less than all 3 hoses if you remove the 5/16 screw that holds it to the top.

    Speed Queen TR washers

Just to clarify, in my thread about the worst washer in America, I voted for Calypso because of how the u-joint boot would tear and then replacing it required a puller, and also the wash plate seal at the edge would curl up and then things would go underneath. Also, lots of complaints of black...

    What is the worst?

In the early days of the VMW, my Sears customers would complain that their clothes wouldn't even get wet in the washer. I agree with the GE assessment, so much riding on little pads. Samsung dryers also, in the way they go through rollers and heating elements so quickly.

    What is the worst?

So the Tappan Dual Drench was the worst dishwasher ever made in America. What would you say is the worst washing machine? Worst dryer? Maybe the worst refrigerator? I am not looking for an exact model number, but more like the name of the machine. For example, I would vote the Kenmore/WP Calypso...

    Speed Queen TR washers

Consumer Reports CR rated the horrid Kenmore Calypso washers at the top until the bitter end. Then Sears disappeared the thing like it never existed. CR also rates one machine against another, when they are essentially the same machine. I don't think they know what they are talking about.

    Dishwasher memory

I looked up the house on Zillow and it was built in 1963. Where did the rusting take place? I was only a young boy so I don't remember hearing about performance issues. Was the dishwasher considered a high end product? As I mentioned, the whole house was built for us and the overall concept was...

    Dishwasher memory

Well, it sounds like I wasn't far off in my recollection. I did find the attached picture elsewhere on this website. Was there a way that the front of the drum was supported? The house where I remember this dishwasher was custom built with a high end kitchen. We had a built-in rotisserie which...

    Dishwasher memory

I wonder if anyone can help me ID a dishwasher that we had in our home in the mid to late 60s. What made it unique, iirc, was that instead of a lower spray arm, there was a long tube that went from the back to the front. It sat in a depression in the floor and would somehow pick up water and...

    Dishwasher Pre Wash

WDT970SAKZ3 With my WDT970SAKZ3, there is one prewash before the main wash, so I add a little powder onto the door when filling the cup. My feeling is that it will cut the grease a bit, and allow the main wash to be more effective. And while we are on the subject of dishwashers, I noted in...

    Opinions please

This is a motor/tranny view of a common VMW washer, model mvwc565fw0. You can see that there has been oil leakage. A buddy is convinced that the oil comes from motor, and says that the tranny doesn't have oil in it. I have always thought that the tranny is the source of the oil. What is your...

New Production Vintage Incandescent Light Bulbs

I hoarded... When ending incandescent bulbs was announced, I started to buy up a huge amount of them at Home Depot. I know I will have enough to last me until my time on earth is over.

    1963 Kenmore 70 Dryer

I think that the basic WP top lint screen dryer is maybe the best product on the market, throughout all the years it has been in production. It dries well, has simple parts that are durable, and has maybe the strongest airflow that can overcome installation obstacles. Many customers can't wrap...

    Home Depot Dryer Installation!! Seriously???

I think delivery is the weakest link of the large retailers. They use subcontractors obviously, and it could very well be that there really is only one company that delivers for all of them in any particular area. As a tech, I have an eye for various installation issues, but the subs probably...

Refrigerator review, WRFF3436RZ00, WP french door

hinge wiring One of the key reasons I didn't even consider a WP SxS was the ongoing left door hinge wiring issue.

What did you think of the F&P style whirlpool washers

I worked for Sears during this model run, so we just referred to it as the Oasis.

Refrigerator review, WRFF3436RZ00, WP french door

I have had this refrigerator for a few months now, and want to share my experience. I wanted a Whirlpool because I felt the most comfortable fix it if necessary in the future. I chose away from GE because of reliance on SmartHQ and their chipped water filters which really chafe me. I looked at...

    Range cleaning

Well, I had planned to remove the floor (it comes off with two screws) and use the cleaner and then rinse with water, but the overflow batter (from a cake I baked) came right off with a push because it had so much butter in it. I then scrubbed the surface with some dish soap, it seems to be...
