    Range cleaning

I have a new Samsung gas range. Since it is self cleaning, they say not to use chemicals to clean it. I would like to use Easy Off on the floor of the oven. Opinions?

    Cooking with gas burners

gas stoves Gas ranges have been used for eons without any trouble. I hate to get too political, but there are forces at play to get gas appliances replaced with electric. Why? Electric appliances are easier to monitor and control. You can research the people at the root of the anti-gas push...

    Giving away tools...

I have some tools that I just don't use anymore. If anyone is interested, please let me know. For the Maytag tool, I don't know if I have the round black attachment, but I will look some more. [this post was last edited: 5/4/2025-19:43]

deep fill My TC5 Speed Queen washer has deep fill, but that adds only 4" more water. I use it when the load is larger, or when I want items to move more freely through the water.

    LFID2459VF1A question

Frigidaire dw LFID2459VF1A, customer says it is stuck in drain mode, which I think means that some water got to a float switch. I dry it up. Then what? Am I on the right track? I have worked on only a few of these units.

What contributed to the end of Mayag?

Please tell me what contributed to the end of Maytag. I can imagine that reworking the Neptunes had something to do with it. I liked their washers, even the the last ones.

Favorite dishwasher detergent and rinse aid...

Cascade` I use Cascade powder, fill up the dispenser and a little on the door for pre-wash. Pods are expensive, and liquid is gooey. My local Kroger no longer has the Cascade or their private label powder, so I buy it from Amazon.

    18"Danby DW

Brand engineering Years ago when I worked on these more, or maybe there were more of them out there, there was a lot of brand engineering going on between the 18" models. I mean, you could take a parts diagram from one branded as Frigidaire, and another from Brand X and another from Brand Y and...

    What is this?

A buddy was working on this MVW4505MW0 washer today. Underneath, it looks like the actuator platform, but it has the lid lock in the middle, which is for the rotor platform. Buddy said it had 6 lights instead of 5 on the control panel. Can anyone tell me the background of this hybrid model?

About the threads on the upgraded pages, how spicy does it get? Are we talking porn with images? Or is it mostly politics?

    My Whirlpool dishwasher

The sound The sound I was referring to is a rhythmic sound more like something turning and hitting something, or something going back and forth, just not smoothly. I suspect it is the top tube that washes the top rack, it is going back and forth. I need to listen again and see if there is a...

    Thermador brand question

Was there a time when Thermador was a fairly average brand, and not high end? I am thinking of the Eichler home we had in Palo Alto, CA that had a wall oven which I think was a Thermador. This is all from memory though. The homes were built in the 60s and I am trying to figure out what kind of...

    My Whirlpool dishwasher

Sound level I wanted to add that the machine is whisper quiet when running, I can hardly tell it is on. However, there is a point in the cycle where there is a noticeable click sound, and I suspect that it is the top tube sprayer that is rotating back and forth noisily. This isn't bothersome...

    You know something

In reading some of these threads, I am pretty impressed by how some of you can discuss various features and changes based on model numbers and other factors. You use highly technical terms and refer to models by their model number system (VMW) like you have inside info. Anyhow, I don't know...

    GE Monogram door hinge question

Just to introduce myself, I have an appliance repair business in the Denver area, and this issue should be much simpler than it is turning out to be: Model ZDT985SPN3SS has two door springs connected to the frame and that meet up at a metal bracket which has a cable to the door hinges. The cable...

    My Whirlpool dishwasher

There is talk of how Whirlpool has gone downhill and I wanted to share my experience with my new Whirlpool dishwasher model WDT970SAKZ3 with the square pump housing. Here are some observations: 1. I like the 3rd rack, but obviously it take a third longer to empty the dishes when finished. It...

    Colorado Washing Machine Museum

Being new to the website, I don't know if this topic has been covered, but there is a washing machine museum in Eaton, CO that a friend and I toured a number of years ago. The owner was gracious enough to host us with a private tour on a weekend day. The place is huge and he has every imaginable...
