My last Frigidaire fridge and our current Frigidaire upright freezer both have Panasonics . I'm assuming our current LG fridge has an LG linear compressor. It's absolutely silent. The Panasonic one in the freezer and the one that was in the fridge made normal compressor noises when running.

In 1994 my mother remodeled her kitchen and bought a similar looking one with the same buttons but not that control screen. It was a Quiet Wash something and was anything but quiet.
