    Combo stereos 1969-84

That is repairable, but will be quite a project-these do seem to lose their original speakers quite often, but just about any speakers around 8 ohms will work ok. Poor sound could have several causes-degraded capacitors high on the list, and there are other causes including transistors that have...

    Combo stereos 1969-84

I thought about trying LEDs in that Sanyo, but looking at other receivers converted to LED,usually too bright and gaudy-does cut out several watts of heat though. The dial of the Sanyo is supposed to light up warm white with a clear plastic light guide around the festoon bulbs evening out the...

    Combo stereos 1969-84

#9,That '82 Fisher tuner sure did look "Sanyo"inside and did have a few broken solder joints... Speaking of Sanyo,I have a big Sanyo receiver from 1978 they built to get on the prime era bandwagon: it has those big black amp modules :) The transformer is quite large,so probably has some...

    Combo stereos 1969-84

Just discovered Crosley makes a retro '70s looking replica of one of these ! : 1975T,~$230. I'd love to poo-poo the hell out of this beyond BPC crap, but probably sounds better than the smartphones everybody uses as a jukebox these days :)

    Combo stereos 1969-84

That Fisher was probably pretty decent -I think that brand was considered one of the better ones in the early 1960s HiFI FM early days and a 1982 Fisher tuner i have is pretty good(made in Japan by then) I have 7 combos -best one is a 1974 Panasonic that has brands own turntable that has 4-pole...

    Combo stereos 1969-84

those "all in ones" that featured AM/FM,phono,and often a tape player or two and seperate speakers. Earliest ones noticed were from about 1969,latest from around 1984 as "BPC"-black plastic crap era was getting underway...lots of cheapo to mid -grade offerings usually from Japan, sometimes US...

    The Home Entertainment Industry

Before the Dual 1229 i had an Empire turntable of about the same vintage as the dual-a heavy 1950s basic design with a German external rotor motor belt driving the platter. Bought this one in near mint condition at a stereo store table sale in 1989 for $40: i think they thought it was a relic of...

#36, HPM-40 : woofer frame is cast aluminum and they have cloth accordion surround. I have a pair of smaller pioneers,8"woofer,from about 1974 that will end up hooked to a 1974 Panasonic delux all in one (phono,AMFM,cassette,8-track) in guest bedroom. Out in the moon shack,a 1982 facility,a...

    The Home Entertainment Industry

Current main house system consists of: -Dual 1229 turntable from 1972: idler wheel drive, but a quite good one-platter is some heavy cast alloy and 4-pole motor has a magnet ring so runs synchronous when up to speed. The neon tube strobe silvered up long ago. -Philips 7951 receiver,1980: US...

    The Home Entertainment Industry

I remember when FM was high fidelity :) For my local FM stations that changed around the mid-'00s : sounded slightly out of tune with a subtle ringy overtone and narrow dynamic range-sounded like a low rate download...I thought my radio was at fault...Last couple years sound has gotten...

Hitachi 1970's Portable Washer (Showa Era) PS-100

Cute little washer-love the colors. We had nothing like this in US,GE did sell a little impeller top load automatic washer made by Hitachi from about 1971-80 and there were Hitachi built twin tub washers in the 1970s

GE Filterflo? First Steps to start

First place to start is at the pump-besides probably seized, seems something like a sock is wound up in it blocking gravity drain.Use a 1/4 nutdriver to loosen pump coupler clamps and remove coupler to see what is up.

    A806 Timer Motor

are your 2 bad motors open circuit on the coil?I thought the main problem with this style timer was the plastic gears shrinking from age and cracking.I will look if i have any of those-and if they work if found...

    vintage wheel pumps 101 ?

I have a '59 visimatic-that impeller sure looks a lot like the circulation impeller of a BD 4-port pump(used on some BDs through '72 ?) do not know if the impeller is actually usable on a visimatic pump .

GE Filterflo? First Steps to start

Bound up motor will just hum and then trip off overload protector-same thing if start circuit not completed because of start relay or timer fault. Take off rear panel or tip washer gently and rotate rubber pump coupler to see if motor rotates free and look for any damaged wiring.
