    The Defense of the Model-T

The older versions of the VMW Amana used the straight vein agitators and some used H.E. agitators. And yes, VMW Amanas will have good parts when new it’s not defective. Although they did make the DAA older Amana’s with the DAA such as the NTW4700YQ, NTW4701BQ, NTW4501XQ, and NTW4601XQ. But most...

    The Defense of the Model-T

So you’d rather use a cheap Amana VMW with roaring bearings than a Model-T that’s in fully good condition.

    The Defense of the Model-T

Actually, no, those cheap VMW Amanas, Ropers, Admirals, did destroy themselves when off balance too, the balance sensors often bypassed due to it being off balance at a high speed. The higher end VMWs seem to sense out of balance loads properly, but go online and you’ll see a bunch of the low...

The GE HydroWave: What did you think of them?

I believe my friend’s GTWN4250D1WS is a 2014, bearings only recently started getting noisy on it, very loud on spin cycle. It even has good shifter coils as it agitates normally, the bearings in it just are starting to fail. It replaced a Model-T from 2000 which failed in 2014, so even their...

The GE HydroWave: What did you think of them?

And I know someone with a HotPoint HydroWave with the plastic inner drum at their apartment. I think the tub straps are failing on that one but it does work. The tub straps are failing I think.

The GE HydroWave: What did you think of them?

Actually, it’s the agitator one, not infusor. Model GTWN4250D1WS. I thought that was an infusor model but I looked it up, and I believe that was the DAA version. It does still have bad bearings but otherwise works fine.

The GE HydroWave: What did you think of them?

A lot of people hate HydroWaves/Model Ts on here. But I know someone who has their model T lasting 20 years and another with a 22 year old model T still going strong. I also know someone with a GE HydroWave GTWN4250D1WS, this is the infusor version but it’s probably like 10 years old and it’s...

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

Don’t listen to Appliance Insider recommending the GE Commercial over the Maytag. Appliance Insider just hates everything branded Maytag if it’s made by Whirlpool. But then he recommends the Whirlpool and Amana which is literally the same exact machine. Also, the Maytag commercial does use...

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

The commercial units use the same gearcase as residential ones. It uses uses WH03X33733. The SAME gearcase as the residential machines. So the claim that the GE commercial’s use a better transmission than the residential units is nothing but a ploy. GE’s commercial machines are the worst...

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

I’ve taken apart a transmission. Both off older VMW units, but I’m pretty sure the newer transmissions look similar.

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

I did a boneyard cleanup and got rid of multiple Whirlpools with bad gearcases and one with a broken tub: Whirlpool WTW4915EW2 - bad bearings (manufactured on 46th week of 2016) Maytag MVWC415EW2 - bad bearings (manufactured 46th week of 2016) Maytag MVWC416FW - bad bearings Maytag VMAX...

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

Did you ever take apart a transmission from a VMW? The residential and commercial transmissions look about the same on the inside.

    The Defense of the Model-T

Many people are against the GE Model-Ts, but personally, they weren’t too bad and are much more reliable than any machine today. They did have suspension rods, but they were better than the ones used on VMW machines. They also weren’t too loud on the spin cycle. The Filter Flo was getting...

The GE HydroWave: What did you think of them?

I heard a lot of bad things about GE Model-Ts and HydroWaves, but in my opinion they weren’t too bad and Model-Ts didn’t explode if you loaded them properly. In fact, there are way more videos of VMWs failing than Model-Ts or HydroWaves. I had a nice 1990s Kenmore direct drive and it failed in...

Which Whirlpool VMW is most prone to bad bearings?

Crosley isn’t a very common brand to begin with but it’s found in some mom and pop stores. I’m pretty sure people who owned those machines did get bad bearings on them for some users as they used the same parts as any other VMW.

Which Whirlpool VMW is most prone to bad bearings?

Maybe not ALL models and I maybe didn’t get a lot of crosley units with bad bearings but I do get many VMWs with bad bearings, but I mainly get the more popular models. I actually don’t remember if i got Crosley with bad bearings or not, maybe I did at one point, and I don’t remember the model...

Which Whirlpool VMW is most prone to bad bearings?

I only got in a few F&P washers but I did get one with bad bearings, however, I was referring to the F&P based Whirlpools when I said “F&P type”. I once got in a Maytag commercial with bad bearings that was only three years old, those units use premium NSK bearings so those should last a very...

Which Whirlpool VMW is most prone to bad bearings?

I meant like the older Cabrio style Whirlpools, not actual F&P washers. F&P washers are not too common in the U.S.

Which Whirlpool VMW is most prone to bad bearings?

Is it the older ones or new ones? As a repair tech, I’ve seen VMW’s of all types with bad bearings, but which one is most prone to it? Is it the stainless drum or porcelain drum type? Is it the smaller or bigger drum versions? Is it the older or newer models that are more prone? I know on these...

VMW banging while entering spin--smooths out subsequent

Suspension rods. Change those all the time on these VMWs, just did them today on a WTW4800XQ2 made on 29th week of 2012 violently shaking and an Amana NTW4600YQ1 with the same problem. I also recently did one on a 2018 Whirlpool WTW4816FW2. This is the most common failure mode on the agitator...
