    "Economic Stimulus" check - whatchagonnabuy??

I must say that I find it surprising that some people are complaining about receiving money. And as for blaming the president- the Democrats were just as anxious about this rebate. They only wish that one of their names was on the letter. It is after all an election year. Ed

    "Economic Stimulus" check - whatchagonnabuy??

The check is an advance on what will be lower taxes (one time only) for 2008. The tax tables have been adjusted (I think on the first $10,000) so that everyone will pay less taxes than previous years. It has NO effect on any refunds or amount due normally. There will be a line for it on our 2008...

    Maytag A710

A710 ? Doesn't quite look like a A710 to me. That would be a 2 speed machine with 3 or 4 buttons to control the different speed combinations. It looks more like a A412 (maybe A482) with a '10' series timer knob. I don't remember any 10 series with the silver ring around the control panel and...

Rapid Advance Maytag DW up for grabs

I would say the wash action is the same. But, there is a very distictive start-up sound with the belt drive. More noise overall as well. Either one is a great machine that needless to say can't compare to anything new today. Ed

Rapid Advance Maytag DW up for grabs

No, not belt drive. The WU904 was the final version of this machine. The belt drive models ended somewhere in 1988 - 1989. The WU902 looked the same but was belt drive. The WU900 & WU901 was the same but with the earlier ivory colored buttons. Ed

    Unique Kenmore Dryer

No. Those are the original knobs. I've seen 4 or 5 of these through the years. Still have a customer with one that I repaired recently. They are from that 1983 - 1985 time period. Funny though I have never seen the washer. Even the ones that were bought together had a washer with the chrome...

    Maytag Centennial Washer & Dryer

I would say that it was Maytag, not Whirlpool, that dropped classic Maytag engineering. It seems to me that after about 1997 or so the Dependable Care was not so good anymore. In the 10 years that I had my stores I sold several thousand of them. An awful lot are already gone or have been...

    Maytag Centennial Washer & Dryer

I think it's a great looking machine. I don't really understand some of the hostility around here toward Whirlpool for them trying to celebrate some of Maytag's heritage. It's not Whirlpool's fault that Maytag failed. It was Maytag's. As for the DD design, hate it if you want but it has been...

New GE Top Load Hydrowave Washers

GE Harmony I think some of the confusion about the Harmony machine is that we associate the name Harmony to the wash plate 4.0 cu. ft. machine. It was named so because the washer & dryer are connected via a cable to communicate and therefore work in "harmony". So the new machine posted above...

    Electronic Control Maytags

The electronic control was available on the stack units before they had it on the regular model. The S1000 was introduced somewhere in the mid 1980's so the early ones had the old transmission. Electronic control was the only option on Maytag stacks for some time. The first regular electronic...

    Whirlpool and Maytag oldies

I'd guess the Whirlpool to be 1967. The Maytag even older.

    Kenmore Dumpster Find !!!

Thanks for the info Bob. You're like an encyclopedia of washer cycles/features. I didn't know you had any control over the wash time on the LK (other than choosing whites or colors). I did know that it had all 3 dispensers. And a full panel light. Any idea where the Kenmore with the big dial...

    Kenmore Dumpster Find !!!

This was the picture of the day just last week. Very nice washer. I always thought it was a little odd how the 700 and the Lady Kenmore were "more" automatic than the 800. One could say the 800 was much more flexable- because it was. The 700 was basically the LK without the automatic timer...

    A Real Old Laundry.

From the looks of the water valve it seems this washer only has one water temp. Is it all cold or all hot ? BTW very interesting pictures. Ed

HELP req fixing my vintage door chimes

That looks like a clock motor/timer in the middle of the unit. I would bet that that is what controls the various plungers (each a different note) and is what is causing the tune to play slow. Ed

    Maytag A806 in Victoria

The bleach dispense was only delayed until the tub was full and the agitation started. It was more a means of dilluting than delaying.

    Maytag A806 in Victoria

I'd be happy to have either one ! I did like the 4 button speed selector on the series 2 machines. And I was never a huge fan of the HOH dryer. Except the near silent operation. But I must admit I may be a little biased as a servicer. I hate taking the whole cabinet off to change an element or...

    Much Maligned Maytag Halo-of-Heat dryers

I don't believe I have ever seen the inside of a "pre" HOH model. I just assumed they where all HOH designs up until 1976. Was the blower and heater in a different place ? Ed

    Avocado Maytag 806 set

Thanks Thanks for explaining the P/P spin speeds. I always was confused by the early a806 (pre p/p) BTW nice Maytag collection. Are the white and gold one still out of service? The timer motor on the 606 should be an easy fix anyway. Ed

    Avocado Maytag 806 set

question for the Maytag experts On the early A806 what did the P/P button do ? My guess is it just combined a low spin with a regular agitation. Was 1969 (when a full P/P cycle was added to the timer) the same time that the speed and temperature buttons were switched and the 4 button speed...
