You could try... Adding some additional water to it with a pitcher. Then see if the pump sounds normal. You may have a clogged fill valve. When the LG was removed, did they leave and reuse the old fill valve, perhaps? Malcolm

Well... There is a line filter and transformer involved. It would seem that one or both of them could be causing this issue. I have essentially the same machine from 2009 and it hasn't had any control problems. Malcolm

Line Filter Sounds like the line filter may be failing to clean the incoming voltage. Or there is a grounding problem causing static to build up. Malcolm

Whirlpool Stepped Spin Whirlpool as well as many other manufacturers use a stepped spin at the final spin. It helps with wrinkle control as well as lightening the load so the higher speed spin has better chance of being balanced. Malcolm
