Time for a new front loader...

PureRinse Interesting. Because WasherTester has a 'PureRinse' Elux, and it definitely did 3 rinses. RevvinKevin, if your Elux is really only doing 1 rinse....all I can think of is, Elux got really really stingy with rinsing in the last year? (is your machine brand new like within the last...

all original 1970s home set to be demolished

OH gosh lol. We had those exact same yellow curtains in the livingroom of the house I grew up in. I wasn't a fan of them then, nor watching this. Ha.

    Detergent choices

Lead balloon incoming lol I've been using these products for the last few years with really good results: https://tinyurl.com/Care-RenewLD This detergent is one of the few left I've found that includes 'cellulase' to help prevent and break down pilling on organic fabrics. Been using this for...

    Anyone longing for the 1970's?

Phwwww! Reminds me ofthe house I grew up in. SO much brown. Dark beams, psychodelic wallpaper (though ours wasn't too crazy). Lots of roof leaks....

Need recommendations on front load washer

#25 Well those were never stainless steel braided to begin with. Those are clearly just "gray" nylon weaved. You can tell which ones are stainless wrapped. They're metallic feeling and shiny. Even the stainless wrapped hoses are still rubber inside. The nylon and stainless wrapping is to...

    New Whirlpool Front Load Washers

They look nice. More substantial than the current lineup. Although I think I see the plastic door window sticking around. Deal killer for me.

Expert weighs in on quick wash cycle

A lot of what Patric Richardson says is quite helpful. I’ve gotten a lot of unbearable stains out using his techniques. However, personal intuition is also a good tool. I don’t wash everything on quick, but I use Normal - Light for probably 80% of my wash. Works great. Very little wear and tear.

Tupperware files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Plastics I'll just leave my thoughts here, and not try to convince anyone of anything, since this feels like a 3rd rail topic. My hatred of plastics came from working with lots of it in product development, and learning about how UN-recyclable it is. Learning how much of a farce the recycling...

    Dishwashers Making People Sick?

Normal wash final rinse temps are still 135-140F. Main wash temps seem to be around 105-120F for enzyme action. Quick/Fast cycles in modern dishwashers use more heat to compensate for the rapid cycle. People in general are just dirty.

the most angering laundry commercial and presentation

LMAO OMG, when you think things can't get stupider. I guess Civics education really is lacking. The US Constitution and "freedom of appliance purchase choice" aren't even in the same universe. Goods, meaning appliances here, are produced in a mostly free market, with some light government...

what is better today vintage washers or modern?

If you're thinking cleanability? I would say modern, 6 days a week. My parents, grandparents, aunts, were always soaking and stain treating constantly. They had the gammut of machines, from the Newton-tags my house and my one grandparents had. To the WP DDs my aunts had, to the FilterFlo my...

    Power Clean Thermal Holds

Unless you’re doing actual soil and load testing, this is AAAALLLLL FICTION. Are you telling me, you know far better than the GENIUSES at Whirlpool, that the cycle sequences for the Powerclean need reprogramming? I also don’t see any consideration for enzyme detergents.

Why Did Older Dishwasher Have Such Enormous Motors?

#25 This dishwasher uses 13.2 gallons? GTFH. Nobody wants that anymore. Even the toughest cycle on a late 90s Powerclean only used 11gal. Enjoy pissing your electricity and water down the drain.

    Whirlpool Dishwahser Heaters

LMAOOOO! Changing a layout of a heating coil to make space for a plastic tube isn’t genius. It’s just basic engineering and parts layout.

Speed Queen Gas Dryer Moisture Sensor is Terrible

***DRYER LINT IS FLAMMABLE*** OH boy....before anyone coming upon this thread gets any bad ideas, dryer lint IS very flammable. A quick google search came up with tons of article on the dangers of lint buildup. Even many articles on how to use lint as fire starters while camping. One article...

    Considering Vintage Dishwasher

Definitely go with the KUDS25 if it’s in good enough condition. I refurbed a KUDS25 almost a year ago and it’s been wonderful.
