In the Mouth of Your Disposal...

Looks like mostly ISE badgers, YUCK! I do like the better ISE models though, a friend of mine has the TOL Evolution Excel, it is sort of the the modern version of the good old Waste King Universal.

In the Mouth of Your Disposal...

I looked in the WP, it had a couple small bit of bone rolling around, I’ve noticed most tend to struggle with those smaller bits of hard material, I usually just let it deal with it over the next few uses. And yes, if you leave much of anything in there, it can easily jam up on that fixed...

In the Mouth of Your Disposal...

At home I’ve got two old WasteKings, a 1989 and a 1969. The newer one is a Thermador branded one! I call it “all roads lead to the King”. And I dropped my brand new iPhone in the sink, right under the faucet! Thankful for water resistant iPhones!

    Favorite Household Cleaning Products

I was thinking of this thread earlier when cleaning my shower... Been frustrated with the ‘household’ cleaners I’ve been using, so I bought a jug of Zep commercial tub and tile cleaner and one of their commercial grade spray bottles. I’ve been a fan of Zep’s chemicals for a while, and this was...

    Vacuum find

I don't think this way about a Kirby, but like I said, I understand what the customer is thinking, and I've felt that way about other things myself, like the printer. To the customer, the Kirby is just another vacuum. They don't necessarily understand what makes a good vacuum, or why a more...

Last big purchase of 2018 - a new dishwasher

The only two new dishwashers I ever recommend are the Bosch and Miele. Both are excellent, but I always say you get the most dishwasher for your money with a Bosch!

    Vacuum find

My suspicion is that people don’t like their current machine, for whatever reason, so when something goes wrong, regardless of how simple, they just get all excited and use it as an excuse to replace the machine. Something like a Kirby, while appealing to us collectors, is bulky, heavy, and...

What vacuum cleaner do you have?

I’ve got a couple Nilfisk GS90s. Love me a good Nilfisk!!

    More CARS being discontinued

Personally, I prefer the full sized truck and SUV category over a crossover. I have a thing about body on frame, truck based vehicles. The kind of cars I prefer haven’t been made in a while, the big, long land yachts that went away in the 90s...

The journey along your basement ceiling

Central vac pipe! To me the most interesting plumbing I’ve got across the ceiling is the white 2in thin wall PVC pipe!

Your dishwasher: What's best? a dirty load going in, or a clean load coming out?

What's best?? A, big, dirty load going in, and then seeing how sparkling and spotlessly clean they come out! One of the absolute best dishwashers I've ever used is my Kitchenaid in my profile pic, followed very close by out late model Whirlpool PowerClean from 05. There's just something so...

What vacuum cleaner do you have?

I was given a lovely C80 with the manual and all a number of years ago. Some people moved into a house and this was there in the basement, the plug was missing a prong, and they didn't seem to feel the need to bother with the thing. I bought a new cord for my Tri-Star CXL, all silver, that had a...

How The Ballpoint Pen Killed Cursive

I do tend to prefer pens that require less pressure to the paper, like the uniball ones. I honestly rarely ever use print, my print never progressed past 5th grade, as soon as they allowed us to write in cursive if we so chose, I made it my primary form of writing. I also don't hold my pen the...

Repulsion Start / Induction Run Belt Drive Frigidaire!

Something so magical about those repulsion start motors! I've seen a vintage central vac with that sort of motor! I love how they sound on startup, whizzing up to speed and then the clack of the brush holders retracting.

    Whirlpool garbage disposal!

Don't feel too bad, they were illegal in New York City.. This wasn't until the 70s I believe, at the time Lucy was on the air, which I believe was 50s and 60s, they were still OK. Personally I'd have installed my own anyway, especially if I owned the home!

    Whirlpool garbage disposal!

Ran across those at Home Depot, each side of the sink have their own dedicated P trap and then the line meets at the 2in pipe sticking out of the wall. Its fun to see what the disposal output looks like!

    Whirlpool garbage disposal!

I have such fond childhood memories of getting to drive the tractor with one of those mowers on it! So much fun! Here goes a watermelon rind and some pineapple too!

    Whirlpool garbage disposal!

The Whirlpool took a bit more time (should have recorded it for comparison but was just having too much fun!) and made some decidedly interesting slapping sounds as it worked them over, I concluded it was simply bitchslapping them to bits, which seems about right... but it didn’t waste much time...

    Whirlpool garbage disposal!

That and that old Wards Waste King you got too! That’s still an excellent one. I couldn’t be happier with my Thermador! The Whirlpool shreds about as fine as the Anaheim Waste King. Which is good, but the vintage ones like my Thermador definitely do grind finer. I feel the WP is faster on things...
