Maytag A207 not advancing in cycle-- fixable?

Generally a stripped gear in the timer motor if it's a Kingston timer. It could be old hardened grease which locks up the metal gearing if it's a Mallory timer. There were several different timers and timer motors used for these depending on the year, options, and timer manufacture. You'll...

What’s the best detergent for a Vintage dishwasher?

Cascade powder detergent mixed with STPP. Pods/Tabs don't play nice with these machines. Liquid oozes out of the dispensers. Fool around with dosages by peaking inside the bottom tub near the end of the pre wash and main wash cycles. Cut back dosages if there's too much suds in either of these...

tearing down an old hotpoint- and question of proper sleeve bearing lubricant.

I have purchased both at Ace Hardware.

tearing down an old hotpoint- and question of proper sleeve bearing lubricant.

Zoomspout Turbine oil for a lighter weight oil, 10 weight. 3-in-One Electric Motor oil is a 20 weight oil.

    Vintage Philco Range

Good God, it looks flawless. That's certainly an item I'd be beaming with pride to own. Can't say that about any range made today.

Tide "Free and Gentle" Powder Returns!

You and I think alike but most just use tap cold water, overload the washer, over dose/under dose detergent, start the machine, and walk away.

My New Favorite Laundry Detergent- Tide Professional

How much of this stuff to start would you use in a classic.. Depends on several factors, mainly on your water hardness. The harder you water is, the more product is needed. Also, Tide recommends a minimum water temperature of 90F for this to work properly so keep that in mind. Maybe use it for...

Tide "Free and Gentle" Powder Returns!

Powder detergent work well if temps are above 80F, closer to 90F but it's bad choice for most who use tap cold water, especially for nearly every load. Best to use liquid in this case.

What is the best modern washer to buy (outside Speed Queen)?

Front load only if you're excluding Speed Queen. Probably LG as far as bang for the buck, cleaning, and reliability.

    Home Depot Dryer Installation!! Seriously???

Nobody cares anymore. Hurry up, get it done, collect money, and on to the next half assed job. If someone questions sketchy work, become loud and belligerent while egotistically BS'ing your way out of the situation. The amount of fixing I've had to do from so called professionals (some of them...

    Tide Ultra Oxi

What's your water hardness rating? Incoming water temps at the fill flume for cold/warm/hot? I haven't tried Tide Professional yet but don't require additional cleaning power. Remember that Tide Professional powder requires a minimum of 90F water temps to function properly.

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

I wasn't referring to carnage, I was referring to design. It's far too under designed for its application. It's also completely unserviceable.

    Tide Ultra Oxi

Excellent results for several years now. Works great on all staining and dirt suspension. Rinsing is much better than virtually anything I've used in the past. Scent is light to undetectable but the 806 is modified for its already superior rinsing. I'm on a water softener along with using a...

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

Commercial or not, it's under designed JUNK! Appliance engineers of 50+ years ago are rolling in their graves at high speed.

Friday Film Bonus: Search for the Oldest Maytag in Canada

Their house is now gone. Reduced to a parking lot. It appears the same drain grating is intact, probably 70+ years old.

    What? No "Touch-N-Cook"?

So I guess Frigidaire is no more? The end of Frigidaire was 1979, just like end of Maytag was 2006.

The GE HydroWave: What did you think of them?

Brother had one, I played with it. Large tub (water level could be higher, factory had it set a few tub row holes too low in my opinion). Washed fine, a bit too aggressive for my tastes. No lint filter. Neutral drains (meh, not a fan). ZERO spray rinse. Two big thumbs down on that! 👎👎...

    Matag DE 608 Parts availability

Be sure to install the paperclip linkage exactly the way the factory did. It can be installed upside down and it'll destroy the fiberboard in short order. I opened up a bad control switch years ago and discovered the fiberboard broken in half. There really isn't anything you can do to increase...

    Matag DE 608 Parts availability

The most common reason for not shutting off on these is the fiber board inside the control switch breaks off where the paperclip linkage connects externally and doesn't put the dryer into cool down mode by directing the motor voltage through the cool down thermostat contacts. If that tab is...
