First time I've ever called a plumber

Simply contact the manf. and get a new sprayer.  I use my  sprayer all the time. In prep for new countertops I bought a new faucet with a separate  sprayer as I HATE pull down sprayer faucets. My other requirement was a separate spout, i dislike the combo with the handle on the spout.   This...

    Worse invention of last 30yrs...

I've always hated sodium street lights, prefer mercury to them.  That said I'll take LED over either.   Headlights are another story. There is much that can be done to improve  them. in Europe adaptive headlights are an option, here they are not allowed.

Best Microwave Ever Built For Home Use

I've only used the basic units in break rooms and such,  not impressed. I'd be curious about the higher end models but I've never come across any.

Best Microwave Ever Built For Home Use

Commercial Microwaves are good at the one thing they were built for -reheating a gas station burrito or a grab and go meal. There is no subtly there, it's on blasting energy for the duration. I use my microwave for cooking, I use various setting based on what I'm cooing - not possible in those...

It's That Time of Year Again, 2.0: Condiments for hot dogs and sausages

I only buy natural casing locally produced hot dogs.  Love them grilled, but heating the grill for one or two dogs is wasteful so second place goes to my air fryer.  Been also known to boil or steam them.   Toppings?  Mustard and onions and a good quality dry coney sauce if available, nothing...

A New All-Wheel-Drive vs. what I currently have: Old School Four-Wheel-Drive

We're a GM family through and through, always use the GM discount. My dad worked at Buick for 44 years as did pretty much all my uncles. No haggling needed.

It's That Time Of Year Again! What Is Your AC Thermostat Set To?

Same here,   have central AC, have not used it in years.  Lots of big trees around the house, I put cellular shades in the bedrooms, keep them closed depending on sun's position.  It was in the 90s last week, got up to 82 in the house, certainly livable. Have a fully finished basement to retreat...

    Coldspot & Kenmore

My folks bought a bottom freezer Coldspot in'62, it ran great for 45 years. I replaced the defrost heater at one point and the timer a bit later. At the end it just quit cooling,  was a beast to get out of the basement.

GE Wall Refrigerator - pink - thoughts?

Surfit, Sounds like an exciting project. Please consider starting a thread to document it, I'm sure many here would enjoy it.   We have been following Sarah Perdue's long journey renovating her house, BTW she had her GE wall fridge repainted and repaired.

Best disposers -- vintage or modern?

Copper I always thought copper=good.  Then my copper drain line from my kitchen sink rotter out and killed over $5k of AV equipment in my basement.  All the drain lines in the house are copper, which I thought was quality. My folks built the house in '65, it took about 40 years to go bad...

Best disposers -- vintage or modern?

The tail piece is a standard item, I rarely use the type included, mostly use a straight tube.  For the flange I can't be of much help, but I always use plumber's putty on the flange rather than a rubber gasket, better seal in my opinion.

Could I live without my Stand-Up Mixer?

I use my 30+yo KA all the time.  It was joined a few years ago by my frequently used Bosch made Nutramill mixer. I real only use it with the stainless bowl and the bread kneading claw made for the Bosh version. I make a heavier sour dough bread that strained the KA but the Nutramill easily does...

Today's STEAL! Immac. Sunbeam CG-1 waffle iron

To the best of my memory there is a small adjustment screw on the bi-metal strips that only need a small tweak.

    Kitchen of the future

Back in the 50's and 60's the future was wide open and a wonderful place - anything was possible.  Now the future is not a good thing, more a thing to be dreaded. Either we quit dreaming, or achieved "the dream kitchen"  When was the last time recently anyone has offered a kitchen of tomorrow?

    Fels Naptha Changes again.

We always had Spic and Span around growing up.  I might have a brick of it down the basement, but after the formula change I rarely used it.   I'm currently working my way through a NOS 5 gallon container of Red Max Pro hard floor cleaner #4.  Does a great job in all my floor scrubbers, a...
