Wanted: Whirlpool belt drive water level hose

Oh, the pressure switch chamber. Yeah, I had to go to the plumbing section at Home Depot to fabricate a new one, definitely more beefed up than the original. Even fabricated a new piece for the recirculating filter/automatic dispensers as well. Just about all the hoses (hose from the...

Wanted: Whirlpool belt drive water level hose

You might have to go to a local hardware or big box hardware store and go to the plumbing department, I went to Home Depot about a month ago and picked up some vinyl hose which was the same size as the existing pressure switch hose on my Whirlpool, should work.

    Decommissioning a 1988 Kenmore 29” Dryer

Dumb question, is it possible to bypass the moisture sensor on a Whirlpool dryer, put in a power dropping resistor in and making it a thermostatic auto dry? Just wondering about that, even if it’s possible to do.

Maytag Presents: The Los Angeles Story - 16mm Film

Reply #11 PCV valves became mandatory in California starting in 1962, that before being the road draft tube which not only cited problems with pollution, but caused oil sludge and ultimately oil starvation problems. While emissions from vehicles was a problem, the bigger issue were many...

My 1970's Kelvinator 184 has arrived.

Since I’ve used both (My Whirlpool and Maytag), they both have their advantages and disadvantages. The only downside about a neutral drain is there’s more complexity since you either need a solenoid to engage or disengage agitate or a mechanism like inside the direct drive transmissions. On...

1964 Kenmore Dryer.....Need DRUM Belt Info Please !!!!

“I’m still waiting for you to figure out what kind of belt you’re gonna put on your crazy conversion dryer you’re making” Going to put the original drum belt on it came with. Though, will experiment to see if there’s any others that are off the shelf that will fit in the future.

    Calling Vintage Maytag Experts

From my experience, I just leave things alone. While the machine may perform better with a 50hz pulley, it’ll put more wear and tear on clothing and the machine itself. The only time I modify things is when I can’t find or locate replacement parts, that’s exactly why I’m in the process of...

I think the first belt drives ever made were under the Kenmore name in 1947.

1964 Kenmore Dryer.....Need DRUM Belt Info Please !!!!

Wouldn’t a belt from a current 29” dryer work? Seem to think it since the 1966 to the present Whirlpool dryers seem to have a similar size/diameter as the older Whirlpool dryers. Thinking about getting a replacement belt for mine with the Mark 18 conversion it’s going under.

Maytag Presents: The Story of Clothes Drying - 16mm Film

The trick to getting a Maytag HOH to dry faster is to have as short of a duct run as much as possible, second it up upgrade to a 160F/170F/180F thermostat for the high limit. I put a 180F for the high limit thermostat in my Maytag Franken dryer awhile back for experimentation purposes, literally...

    1970s WP Imperial 80. Three-speed dryer.

I believe Dave is referring to the older Whirlpool dryers made before 1966 which has positive pressure at the lint screen pushing air through it as opposed to the 1966 and later models. Since I’ve studied the design of my 1963 Whirlpool Imperial dryer, the main reason why it was changed in...

    1970s WP Imperial 80. Three-speed dryer.

Reply #7 Hi John, I closely examined everything, all you need to do is drill a hole in the motor carriage to mount the tensioner. I’ll create a thread to resurrecting the Whirlpools this summer.

Once I get mine operational, will demonstrate what the multiple tumbling speeds do.

    1970s WP Imperial 80. Three-speed dryer.

Looks to be a to have multiple tumbling speeds. Believe the thinking was to reduce larger loads from being balled up, letting the suction from the fan pull items tow the exhaust outlet to make for faster drying times with a slower tumbling speed, the normal tumbling speed was for smaller loads...

When did GE start to go bad?

Honestly, GE never seemed to “get it” in terms of laundry appliances. They simply didn’t have the experience that Maytag or Whirlpool had. Only good things GE made were drive motors, a few other odds and ends that were used.

Maytag Machines After Whirlpool Buyout - What Remained?

The only thing that really remained after they were bought out was the name, nothing else.

1968 Kenmore has stopped spinning at all

I’ll let the other experts chime in, but sounds like it could be an issue with the spin clutch (not super common on these belt dives, but I’m sure it’s happened over the years), or the retainer for the clutch yoke.

WORST pre-1980 agitator design ever made??

Reply #33 Hi John, unfortunately the timer is pretty much done for since I’ve literally tried everything you can think of. Tweaked the little tabs on the contacts, worked somewhat but seems to not have done much. Invested at least 40 to 60 hours into it, still haven’t gotten anywhere close to...

Epitome of proper daily laundry sorting???

Reply #11 That’s what I’m talking about. Interesting how they managed to come up with that back then. As the saying goes: “What’s old is new again”.
